I just finished recapping one of my Centris 610s. Logic board was in good shape, no real cap leakage. I didn't boot it up before recapping (prior boot before that was probably 3 years ago) but I'm sure the recap didn't cause my issue.
Most screens look OK (see Welcome to Macintosh). However, I'm getting some weird artifacts (vertical lines) on certain shades (title and scroll bars and on some icons (see Note Pad and Scrapbook). I have booted with a different device and the problem persists. I'm thinking VRAM, but the chips HM538123AJ-8 don't seem to be available anymore. I have searched and haven't found this same problem elsewhere. Any recommendations? I would test the lines from the VRAM chips for continuity but the board has multiple layers and I'm not sure I could realistically visually trace where they go.
If I change to 256 greys or 16 colors the problem goes away.
