Just an FYI for other folks, this CardBus USB2 adapter for <$8 works out of the box on OSX (currently running with 10.5 on a tibook). I have not tried it with OS9.
I'm using an EDIMAX EW-7811Un adapter with it, which is cheap, has OSX drivers, and small so it doesn't get in the way.
So, if you're looking for a way to get your older powerbooks on modernish wifi, this should get you there for ~$20.
In any case, that CardBus USB2 card seems hard to beat. Power hungry devices beware, though. The cardbus slot does not necessarily provide the full 1A of 5V that the two USB ports should provide, so it comes with a power adapter cable with a USB-A male end which you can plug into any existing 1.1 USB ports to inject power into the provided USB2 ports. Unnecessary for low power or self-powered devices.
