I finally got copies of Designing Cards and Drivers for the Macintosh Family and Guide to the Macintosh Family Hardware today.

Armed with the information these contain, I'd eventually like to experiment with declroms by replacing the ROMs in any old nubus cards. Most ethernet cards have a replaceable ROM on them that should be just a 27c256/512/whatever or so compatible chip right? AFAIK, I should be able to replace the contents with anything I want. Start with loading existing drivers through a declrom, and maybe move on to actually trying to do something with the card.

Please keep us updated on your experiments in a thread somewhere on these fora. It sounds like an interesting approach.

I'm really excited to have someone with your abilities to finally bring their focus to bear on DeclROM Hacking! :approve:

Just keep posting in this thread and I'll edit the title to whatever you'd like, whenever you'd like. One of the competent mods can even move it into Hacks & Development when the "conquest" aspect loses momentum! Or just bask in your success in sourcing these invaluable MacTomes and then start a new thread there when you're ready.

ISTR, from somewhere or other . . . ::) . . . that the Duo System DevNote has a nicely done primer on the subject. ;)

Will do, there's some cleanup of the ROMDisk to be done first. But if I start getting anywhere on the nubus declroms, I'll update somewhere.

i also got some new books:
