Black MacBook

I got a Black MacBook from my previous job a while back and it's just been sitting collecting dust...until now.  Before I got a MacBook Pro for running my MIDI apps, I was using another black MacBook and I still have it as a backup.  This one I figured I'd use as a parts machine, but it works fine, so it sat waiting.

With 2GB of RAM and a Core2Duo, it was the perfect candidate for my latest project, a jukebox.  Not an iTunes jukebox, but one with an interface much like the ones you'd see in a pizza joint or bar.  After some research and a clean install, I Bootcamped it and put Windows XP on it as well as the Freebox Jukebox software.

Pretty sweet!  I may build an enclosure run an external monitor and throw some powered speakers in there.  It's great software, and they have a very helpful community on their forum.  Definitely worth checking out.

I too got my hands on a Black MacBook , got it working. Put a SSD and 3 gigs ram. Surprised that a machine from 2006 would be so agile. Currently it is my favorite in my collection even over my Pismo. And that is saying something

Yes, great machines! I've gotten a lot of mileage out of mine. My Pismo was my favorite for a while too. I have a copy of the PlayStation emulator, maybe I'll repurpose it as a game emulator machine.

Just curious, why the Pismo in particular? I kind of crave a Wallstreet, in part because I think it's the last to ship with a SuperDrive. But I am always interested in hearing about others' favorites.

Just bought myself one of these - late 2007 santa rosa model, for 30 bucks!

Cosmetically in great condition - it was used very very little, the battery has less than 200 cycles and the keys are practically mint. It doesn't even have the classical cracks on the top case that almost all machines of that era had. 

Only "little" problem is, the logic board has prematurely died. I'm waiting for a spare compatible logic board to arrive from the states in the next couple of weeks to bring this little boy back in shape, and possibly upgrade the HDD to an SSD too - notably, it has been upgraded at some point to a 500GB 7200RPM seagate drive!
I agree on the fact that they're wonderful machines. I wonder why Apple, among all computers produced after 2000, decided to use black color only for these. I think it's very elegant.

Years ago I had a Pismo as a work machine and I had to give it backj when I left the company. It remained a favorite for me. Loved the flexibility of it.
