Battery bomb in my IIgs

So, about 10 years ago, I found that the battery in my IIgs went kablooy. I never had time then, but now I can actually look into the damage. The thing caused very little visible damage, but I assume there is more. You can see the nasty splatter it made on the shielding. Suggestions on where to go here?

To my recollection, no. When I tried to power it up, the power light flickers for a split second, then shuts off and nothing happens.

Ah, I see. I think a good wash with some distilled water and a toothbrush would be a good start.

I will have to remove the board and look underneath. Totally new to IIgs architecture: I see a ton of plastic clips holding it down, but what side of the board comes up first, etc?

It’s really easy to remove the board form the lower case once all other case parts removed. I just use my fingers to remove about 3 tabs at the front and work my way back while applying upward pressure.  Using some isopropyl alcohol should clean up a lot of that. At worst you’ll need one chip and one capacitor, but I don’t even that it is required.
