Apple PowerBook G3 400, Lombard - M7308LL/A question

Hi...

I am looking for a smaller Mac laptop that I can use to support my Color Classic.  I will probably run 7.5.3 or maybe 7.5.5 on my Color Classic.  Can I down load files on the Lombard, burn a CD, and expect the external CD Drive on my Color Classic to read it?  What is the oldest version of a classic OS that I can run on the Lombard?

Also I see that the lombard takes a ATA hard drive, and the original drive was a 6GBs.  Is it possible to roll in a Solid State HD?  How about a 6GB CF or micro SD card in place of the hard drive?

I might be looking for one again.  If you have one for sale, you can contact me via private message here if you like.

Maybe I do not need to mussel that the Lombard would give me.  I do need a working Mac laptop that has a CD drive in it.  I need to be able to down load Mac files, burn them to  a CD, and expect my Color Classic to read them.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

jack

A PowerBook 190 would be the best option for this as you can create a boot CF in the PCMCIA Slot with System 7.5.x. If it can boot from the PB190, it should boot on the CC. Keyword is "should," you need to install it as "Install for Any Mac" and not "Install for This Mac."

But in the case of the Lombard, you can use a CF to PCMCIA adapter in OS8 to partition and format the CF in HFS. But to install System 7.5.x on the formatted CF, you have to do it on the CC or a PB190.
