So today we went to one of the local tip shops (not the normal one, another, much smaller one). Never really has anything, though I did pick up my Gateway EV700 monitor there last year for free. Anyway, Mum and I went there and had a look, didn't really see anything, though then as we were about to leave mum asked me if I'd seen a box. It was a box full of assorted computer crap, mostly just power cables and IDE cables and the like, as well as a 1.2GB HDD. However, it also had an AOpen slot 1 mobo and an IBM 2GB notebook HDD, which I bought. Paid 3 bucks. Haven't had a chance to test either yet, but they both look alright.
Either way, I guess I'll have to get used to listening to Police sirens again - the HDD is the exact same model as the original OEM drive in my PB1400 (IBM DTNA-22160), which, in the months leading up to a very bad and violent head crash, would make a sound similar to that of a Police siren when powered up sometimes.
