Sorry I know this is like beating a dead horse, but I recently picked up a regular Mac Portable for a few bucks at a computer recycle shop. It's in quite good condition minus being a little cracked on the battery compartment casing.
So far I've: recapped the entire board, replaced the battery with this one
https://www.amazon.com/Power-Sonic-PSG-650-Sealed-Lead-Acid/dp/B00BHM8SWW/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1473312325&sr=8-1&keywords=PSG-650
(hooked it up via 2 cables that I connected directly to the connections on the back of the battery holder), replaced the 9V battery and bought a proper mac portable power supply. With the 9V and the new battery in, the system will start up to a sad mac face and then die, however if I plug the power supply in, it will start just fine. (normal 7.5v 1.5a)
I checked the battery and it's a 6.3V. However I checked the power on the terminals going to the battery and only 1.4v was going in. Checked the power supply and it's a nice 7.5V. Is there anything I should start looking for? Thanks!
