About to become the proud owner of a PB180

Hey guys

As the titles say, I'm getting a 180 added to my collection of old macs. Now I used to own one of these a while back and the screen went screwy. So I'd like to try and keep this unit working, which led me to wondering what things might need attention. From what I gather the screen on this unit is a little dull around the corners. Can replacement screens be sourced? Is it likely to require recapping?

Cheers

You know what's odd -- my 180 was doing this just slightly when I first got it, and then it stopped. The unit migrated from the US North-East (it had a Cambridge property tag, it was shipped to me from Maryland) and I live in the South-West (Arizona) where it's particularly dry, even during snowy winter in the mountains.

I didn't do any particular maintenance to it, it just sits out on my desk and looks pretty, and occasionally I use it for just a few minutes or just a few hours. It now looks fine even when I, say, leave it on ("running") all night long, with the backlight off.

EDIT: I am also, sidenote, interested in if these need to be recapped. I have some places I could take or send it if so.

I hope it arrives safely :)

The grayscale screen is really lovely, and I hope just keeping it dried out will keep the screen from going into tunnel vision!

Well today I was able to fire up my new 180, its doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects from its journey via Royal Mail. Just need to start installing software.

Can anyone recommend some one who does recapping here in the U.K.?

I read that the 140 screens don't do it, as ones passive and the others an active matrix screen. Can you put a 140 screen inside a 180?
