In between hanging out with all the mothers in my family and my sister in law's birthday party, I took a load of 42 computers to the local PC Recycle center. Once there, I started unloading my surplus on to one of their trailers. After a few trips back and fourth between my trailer and theirs, I noticed a box out of the corner of my eye... the box said "Apple Macintosh Classic" on it, and upon further inspection i could tell there was at least a Keyboard II inside the box. I decided that I was going to call the recycle place on Monday as they were currently closed about buying the Classic from them. While I was unloading the rest of the computers, one of the guys in charge happened to show up to see if he needed to swap out trailers, I asked him about the classic and he gave me a direct number to call on Monday and then helped me unload my trailer. After we finished unloading the trailer he told me to go ahead and take the mac classic. After I got home, I checked out everything in the box, there was the Classic itself (4mb ram, 40mb hard drive), a Keyboard II, a Mouse, a box of floppies, and a modem. The Classic powers on, and the hard drive will sometimes try to spin up, but never quite gets there. The floppy drive works fine and is able to boot the machine, as does the floppy image in the ROM. It does appear it needs some caps replaced on the analog board and probable on the logic board as well, when it is reading from the floppy or what not you can see the picture shrink and grow when and if using enough power, will reset. The classics case is yellowed on the back and has dirt on the left side, but other than hat in great shape. I will tear in to the beast tonight and check out the boards and get it all cleaned up. Happy mothers day to me (even though I am not a mother! or a girl!)
