840av with Jackhammer won't shut down

...or restart. It locks up right at the point where it would normally power down and just sits there.

If there are no drives connected to the Jackhammer it works normally.

If I swap out the Jackhammer for a Silicon Express IV, it works normally.

Apart from the shut down issue, everything about the Jackhammer seems to work normally.

As best I can remember (it's been a while) the Jackhammer worked normally in the last system I tried it in, which was a Quadra 800.

The drives I've tried (one scsi2sd v6 and a couple of quantum prodrives) are not formatted with the FWB utility, is it mandatory to do so with a Jackhammer? I don't recall having to do so in the past, but I might be mis-remembering...

There is no pram battery installed, might that affect the Jackhammer?

I previously updated it to 3.2.3, and since read in the readme that 3.2.3 was specifically for compatibility with the Targa 2000.

"This version is designed to fix compatibility issues between the Truevision TARGA 2000 (NuBus) card and the FWB SCSI JackHammer. If you are not using the TARGA 2000 digital video card, then you should not be using JackHammer v.3.2.3"

Possibly the same trick can be used to downgrade?

I have the 840av all back together with the SEIV card now, so not sure when I'll get around to testing that theory...

You can upgrade / downgrade the Firmware by changing the Control Panel version and flashing the firmware.

I have the extremely rare and hard-to-find version 3.2.6 archived on my website if you want to give that a try. It shipped with the Radius 81/110, which I think was similar to the 8100. The bugs it fixes aren't documented, but through my own testing I've found it at least fixes the large-sector bug for removable media, and it may stop some JackHammers from freezing-on-boot (it fixed one of my I thought for sure was broken due to the freeze-on-boot issue.) So I know it does have some bug fixes. I'd be keen to know if it fixes your issue.
