80pin Ultra ATA over 1.25" 44pin cable adapter. Crosstalk problem?

NIGHT STALKER

I plan on getting a pair of these IDE Disk On Module drives . . .

IDE-DOM-on-PCB.jpg

. . . to run in a RAID config atop a TEMPOtri flopped over 180 degrees in this position . . .

. . . parallel to the the card in a very low profile installation.

I've reworked 50pin (SCSI) IDC cable connections, but am uncomfortable with the notion of removing/repositioning an Ultra ATA cable connector. Whatcha think? I cannot imagine that crosstalk should be an issue a 1"-1.25" jumper cable?

The drives are small, but plenty large enough capacity for OS9, my apps and current use files. Mass storage will be on the slow as IDE connection, probably on a larger IDE DOM . . .

. . . whose wider form factor won't work given the tightly spaced ATA-133 connectors of the TEMPOtrio as seen below:

Sounds like a plan to me, hoping it'll work out. :D

Indeed, thanks so much for the quick response, I got it fixed within the edit window!

Low power in terms of 3.3v? I was wondering what the power connector on the DOM might be.

Might that require a little line level adaptation rework on the cable lines? Was thinking those would be done within the module adaptation itself? Should be easily accomplished by soldering any power lines on the cable to an adapter if not.

Could do a power connection on the same board if needed as well?

the module you showed is intended for use on certain types of embedded motherboard i think

seems some thin clients use 'em

Nice! Hadn't noticed that. was thinking it was the same format as the larger module. Given that adapter format, I'm thinking that soldering it to an adapter PCB might be low enough in profile for my needs.

Has anyone seen a 40pin PCB mount IDE female plug connector anywhere?

Running in late for work, this is looking better and better! ;)

AHA! :)

Perfect for the 6360, but a bit iffy for clearance in TAM. Can lower profile and increase setback by using RA headers and horizontal adapter PCB if necessary. Parts for a perf board bodge are on the way!

RA connectors on the way. Fitment tested with an old fashioned PC Disk Drive header to edge card adapter. Rock solid and clearance provided for FatBack!
