660AVs Local Pickup

I was looking at them myself. The 660AV is a nice machine if you can live with the pizza box styling and cramped internals. It's definitely one of the faster Quadras.

Get them.
They look pretty rubbish to be honest - no front bezels and wrecked cases? And one of them sounds totally dead, probably the one underneath that looks completely trashed. Wait for something better to come along, I'd say ;)

If he can get them for the minimum bid of 6 bucks with free local pickup, they are worth it if he only parts them out.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I haven't bid yet.

If you need the parts go for it, but I think they look trashed. To repair them you will need to buy new cases and the cheapest way to do that is get complete machines.

My original plan was to bid on these as well as a IIgs that the same person had up for auction. I had hoped to get all three for $9. The IIgs was just bid on so it looks like I'll pass on all three. I wasn't going to consider them for more than the minimum bid. I'll still be on the lookout for a Quadra that I haven't played with yet. Those would be a 660av, 700, or 950.

700's are hard to find for some reason. 660AV and 950 come up a lot more often. I personally like the 650 more than the other Quadras. It's not the fastest or most expandable, it strikes a nice balance between the two and easier to move around than a tower model and has a really sturdy case. You can put a big monitor on top of it wwith no worries. That's why I put a Quadra 700 board into my IIvx, but I wish I could have found a 650 board at the time because it takes more memory.

I do too. I had one for quite a while. It was a workhorse and just kept running. I gave it away but now I miss it. :'( I'm also partial to the 605. I really like their small foot print.
