4400 question, 604e?

The much unloved 4400 is not super easy to get info on like some models. Its all boiler plate stuff. But I want to be sure, did the 4400 ever come with a 604e? From what I have read, no. But I am not sure if there was some custom order option.

I ask because on some boards the silk screening has jumper specs for 603e, 603ev and 604e. I attached an image and its hard to read. But to the upper right of the processor you can see what I mean. Some boards do not have these screening.

Ya, I know, I read that many times from many sites. Hence the question to those that may be more in the know about the 4400.

So... Apple didn't sell a configuration of the 4400 with the 604 in it, but there were clones that used the "Tanzania" architecture that did. here's an example. And here's another one. (And there's more...) I'm pretty sure at least some of those clones used exactly the same motherboard as the 4400, just with a different combination of components populated... and, aha!:

They're unfortunately tiny images, but here's a Power Mac 4400 motherboard side-by-side with one from a Motorola StarMax 4000/200, which came with a 604e. Exactly the same thing with a different beard and moustache. Here's a better picture; this board has a slightly different part number silkscreened on it but it's definitely (almost) the same thing, down to the "APPLE COMPUTER INC."

Ahhh... that helps a ton. So the board I have is not some weird prototype, but a StarMax board. Bummer.

I figured someone might know or take a different approach to solving this one. Thanks much!
