32 or 64?

Is OS X 10.4 a 32-bit OS or a 64-bit OS? Ive been getting conflicting results on that, and I was wondering if anyone on here knew.

From what I've heard, it is a hybrid. Apple optimised the libraries that could benefit from a 64-bit environment, and left most of the other libraries alone.

I thought that only the UNIX apps were 64-bit while the rest of the GUI apps were 32-bit. 10.5 is supposed to be fully 64-bit on 64-bit systems from what I've heard.
