2400c!

I just had to share. I've had a string of bad luck with a 2400c I had so I bought a cheapo "parts machine" off of eBay awhile back and thought it'd be good to change out the boards and what not.

The cheapo in and of itself turned out to be FULLY FUNCTIONAL with, get this, the 240 MHz G3 NuPowr upgrade!! I saw the processor alone sold for almost $200 the last time it was up on ebay.

Long story short, with some spare parts I've been amassing, I've got me a sweet OS9 truly portable PB that I've wanted for a looong time. Might go back to OS8.5 though cuz of the little RAM it has, but I'm not complaining.

What a score! :O The machine sounds like a beauty, I hope she serves you well!

Always good to see another 2400c in good hands - mine is specced the same with the Newertech G3 240Mhz. With this sort of potency it deserves a nice fast modern hard disk, and the 96MB RAM upgrade if you can find it (although 80MB is pretty good too). When you're pulling it apart, check to see if the cardbus mod has been done.

Thanks! I'd always kept the G3 proc on my list of "let's just hold out and see," still in amazement. The RAM is at 80MB, not bad actually. I really want to get Classilla to run on it in 9.1 (that's where it's at right now).

Also, weren't there some portable SCSI CD-ROM drives out there, that don't use a power adapter? I know Sony made a model, but I'd like to know which are mac compatible and see if I can find it on eBay or something. I'll post later if it has the CardBus hack (easy enough to do).
