2 QuickTake 100s, still trying to make a complete unit!

I scored a QuickTake 100 on eBay 2 weeks ago. However, it's missing the manual and the disks. It had the box, so I was happy about it. I figured I'd keep my eye out for another one in the future. Maybe I'd get lucky.

Wouldn't you know it, here I am 2 weeks later and there was another one on eBay. No box, but it has the manual and the disks along with a power adapter. The adapter was sold separately since it's actually for the PowerBook. The manual states to use a M2851LL/A PowerBook power supply like this....

I looked up the specs on that and it's a 7.5 V 1A power supply. The one that I received is a PowerBook adapter, but it's number M5140 and is 7.5V/2A. Close, but no cigar. I take it I shouldn't use that since I might blow it up. Right?

I got the disks too, but only 2. I didn't realize there's supposed to be 3. So between the 2 purchases I managed to come close to a complete set. (Ah man, just realized I had the wrong serial cable in the shot. I did receive the proper dark grey one.)

I'd love to get my hands on the carrying case too....

Guess I'll keep looking.

All-in-all, another great addition to my Apple Optics Collection!

It's probably just fine to use. The basic rule is that it's the voltage that it's too high voltage that matters, not amperage (just as long as you meet the minimum amperage at the correct voltage). There are always exceptions to rules, however. We had a similar discussion in a thread about PowerBook adapters on Macintosh Portables.

It'll be fine - you can go same voltage but higher amperage (as in the case of your adapter), and the camera will only draw what it needs - its only if the adapter was a higher voltage that you'd need to worry.

Except (as we discussed in the thread I linked) if there is a maximum wattage specified and the extra amperage pushes the wattage over limit.

300k pixel resolution! 8 shots @640x480 on its 1mb memory.

The pictures resemble those from early mobile phones.

It does turn heads in the streets though, someone asked me

once if I was Han Solo!
