'12 RGB monitor issues

JRL

68000
I have two '12 RGB monitors with varying problems. One spent an extended time period in a heavy smoke area, while the other fell CRT first onto the ground in a box. (Luckily only the plastics were slightly cracked)

The "Smoke" one works fine, but the monitor color is dirty gray after a period of unuse and turns back into the normal color after several minutes. At occasions, the monitor brightness goes brighter very slowly by itself and at a certain point in the process, it turns off by itself, where it requires a off/on press.

The "Injury" one works normally, but the image is distorted in the middle and has a bright white line in the center.

Suggestions? Would I be able to combine these (if necessary) into one working monitor? Thanks!

Both could be saved with more in depth investigation... but this is one of those situations where cramming the 2 together will probably end up sharing problems to some degree

If the dropped one has a tiny crack in the tube (losing vacuum extremely slowly, perhaps) or some other tube damage, and the smoky one has a faulty analog board, then combining the two might give you a better display. This assumes you have one good tube and one good analog board in total. If you have one good tube, but both analog boards have problems, you might negate some of the problems, but not all of them.

If there is a tiny tube crack, then the life of that display is obviously limited.
