How to remove rust from EMF shield

You can soak it in white vinegar for a few to 24 hrs. (depending how bad it is), wash with soap and water then dry. Once cleaned you need to coat it with something to keep it from rusting again (silver primer would do the job).

    NuBus RasterOps 24STV drivers

Think I have a different revision of that card, not sure where it is.

is it worth doing the takky mod in 2026?

A 550/575 isn't that much bigger than a CC and sticking a Presto Plus into it makes them a nice color machine.

is it worth doing the takky mod in 2026?

CC's cost $400 and up these days so modding one and screwing it up might not be a good idea. Are those cases brittle as hell by now?

Are PCI Powermacs hard to find now?

I was looking for myself, I have plenty, but some people were looking for systems and I went browsing to see how common they were and was surprised at what was listed. The only beige Powermac I would be interested in would be a 9150 and good luck finding one of those these days (and even if you...

Are PCI Powermacs hard to find now?

I browse eBay before I head to bed every night and today, I looked at what was going on with PCI Powermacs (7500/8500/8600/9500/9600 in specific) and there were not that many machines to be found (mostly just parts from units). Did they all turn to dust since the last time I looked?

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

There were quite a few types of SCSI cards made for Nubus, the FWB Jackhammer and ATTO SEIV are the ones people spend crazy money for (being 68 pin native). There are a few 50 pin SCSI cards out there that are cheaper but harder to find.

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

That's probably the only downside to a Mac II/IIx/IIfx, no built in video, and decent cards are getting expensive (not that a IIfx is cheap to begin with).

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

Heat would deform it. Some people use boiling water.

Wiper blades can be replaced if you can find a replacement that isn't old (or try soaking in alcohol to loosen up the rubber).

Rare Mac game, where to sell?

Big Box Games Buy Sell Swap on Facebook has 2K members. I think that is where the email list I used to be on for old games went to and it was very easy to sell high value rarities there at the time. Or it could be Big Box PC game collectors with 8K members (both are private groups).

If my IICX's CPU is socketed can I upgrade it?

I stuck a Daystar 040 into a IIcx with the correct socketed Daystar Adapter. Swapping the CPU without changing the FSB will not change anything.

    3D printed floppy protector?

Are they even needed? Protectors are important for 5.25" floppy drives that have a top and bottom head (read both sides at the same time) to keep the heads aligned during shipping and to keep them from bouncing off each other. 3.5" floppy drives only have one head. Any kind of shock that would...

    8500 caps

I think the testers also don't do a great job with higher voltage capacitors since they use a 9V battery.

Beige G3 motherboards have a jumper for Apple or ATX power supplies. Check capacitors for leaks also.

    Recommendations for reliable storage?

I had to wait for a Sonnet firmware update to come out to capture video on their PCI ATA cards because of sync issues 20+ years ago. Moving files and running apps was never a problem but keeping video and audio in sync was a different story. I still have a 18GB native 50 pin SCSI HD on the...

    Recommendations for reliable storage?

An external SCSI drive or an Iomega Jazz depending on the bitrate. Just depends how much money you want to spend. For Around $112 plus shipping you can buy a Medea VideoRaid on eBay that is SCSI with 4 internal 40+GB IDE drives in hardware RAID that will work find with AVID systems let alone...

Is this daystar card i found what i think it is? I didn’t think these existed. I think its brand new.

There are lines from the card going to the Nubus pins so it is doing something. Considering the RAM works even when the PPC isn't being used some of that must go over the Nubus slot. I don't remember is the cache works without the PPC enabled.
