Interest in newly manufactured ImageWriter II color ribbons?

I'll take some!! We go through them like crazy in the lab when people print Kid Pix drawings (which is a good thing).

VCF East Consignment Bargain: $65 IIci with keyboard, monitor, and mouse!

Something new at VCF--exhibitors got first dibs on the consignment area. (There are TONS of Macs there this year by the way). Tonight, I scored a IIci for $65 along with an Apple Monochrome Monitor, AppleDesign keyboard, and ADB mouse. I also bought an Apple Keyboard II for $15 since I just...

    Plus - Partial Power?

So I smacked the Mac a few times on the side and we have a sign of life. The raster appears momentarily. If I keep my hand pressed against the side of the computer, I can see a partial raster for an extended period of time. The screen isn't overly bright and there still is no sound, but we have...

    Plus - Partial Power?

In this case it may be what wasn't done given that this computer has essentially sat for 35 years. I'm also not sure what kind of conditions it was in (I'd assume a garage since the computer has a lot of black gunk on it that will probably take me 20 minutes and a lot of isopropyl to clean up).

    Plus - Partial Power?

I do have a functional spare analog board...should I try that first just to see if it springs to life?

LC reboots when a floppy disk is inserted

A deep clean of the board might be worth trying.

    Weird Mac SE configuration?

The SE went over to FDHD/SuperDrive in August 1989. Your SE is from the 15th week of 1989, so you're about 15 weeks too early (possibly less depending on when the SE FDHD began rolling off the assembly line). Earlier SE FDHD models were badged as FDHD underneath the Macintosh SE badge (of...

    Plus - Partial Power?

So this is a new one to me. I picked up a Plus (upgraded 128K from the 11th week of 1984) from the son of the original owner. It's been in storage since 1991 and came to me in the box of the computer that replaced it (an SE SuperDrive). The machine turns on and the floppy drive makes its sound...

Quantum Hard Drives - which models can be (reasonably) fixed?

I have an LPS I need to get going, but the screws are stripped on it. Any ideas as to what I could use on them that would be safe for a hard drive?

Apple IIe: what cards to choose

Technical note on the speeds: the IIc and IIe Enhanced both use a 1MHz 68C02.

    Which LC/Performa to buy?

Back in 2001, I bought an SE that had that mod. There was actually a 3.5" Quantum ProDrive (the older model, not the LPS/ELS) in there along with two floppies--both FDHD as a bonus!! It cost me a whopping $25 at a garage sale and also included a few boxes of disks plus some random Apple III...

    Which LC/Performa to buy?

And now I'm tempted to get another floppy drive, mod one of my lab LCs, and stick an external BlueSCSI on the back of it...too bad the case isn't big enough to do the dual floppy plus a hard drive/hard drive replacement hack like in an SE.

Apple IIe: what cards to choose

When I had a IIe, I had a Super Serial Card, a floppy interface card to drive a DuoDisk or two UniDisks, and a mouse card. It was a pretty good combination for general use, although like bibilit, I didn't really find I was using the mouse much at all (although Dazzle Draw is a GREAT paint...

    Which LC/Performa to buy?

One caveat is that the original LC uses a different case base than the later models. This also has to do with its speaker/fan assembly, which connects via contact to the logic board rather than through a cable. Later LC models use an individually-cabled speaker and fan. Basically, any case...

    Which LC/Performa to buy?

If you don’t like the thought of replacing an analog board capacitor, you probably wouldn’t like dealing with a PowerBook and some of the issues that it has, especially if you buy one with screen troubles. The LCIII is usually cheaper but the 475 is far faster. Alternately, buy a IIci. It’s...

Contest: Most Copies of a Program

Given I was the OP of this thread back in the good old days of 2008, I can answer this! :) I was referring to original physical media copies. The reference to the Dell OEM discs reminds me of the time my high school threw out a whole paper box of OEM Windows 2000 discs. There had to have been...

Stand for AppleColor 13" High-Resolution RGB Monitor?

Yes, the 12" RGB has a fitting for a stand. While they are currently out, Apple Rescue of Denver has a good writeup and the part number for this exact stand: https://applerescueofdenver.com/products-page/macintosh-to-powerpc/monitors-amp-displays-macintosh/apple-universal-monitor-stand-m0403/...

Any tips on using an ImageWriter II with a Lisa?

As long as you can find the correct cable, it will work just fine. When I had a Lisa years ago, I used an original Imagewriter on it. There were several revisions of the ImageWriter II owners manual. The earliest 1985 printings detailed how to connect it to a Lisa, so it's also officially...

LC / LCII / LCIII / TDK Power Supply Ticking after Recap

Just a thought--how well re-capped is the logic board? I had an LC in my lab that was eating power supplies. A quick examination of the caps on there revealed that whoever recapped the board didn't use the correct caps. It is likely that this was eating my power supplies up, especially since I...

    Maxell!!!!!

I found an intact one in a Mac a few years ago and was almost going to frame it as an exhibit, but I was worried what would happen to the glass box I was going to put it in. I instead took it to a recycling event in Columbus, OH along with about a dozen other batteries I had pulled out of...
