    Colour Classic screen issue

Just a heads up, I fixed my issue (which looked exactly like what you had). Yes, it goes away with degaussing. Look at my above post for specifics.

Color Classic Screen / Dim Spot

Here is some follow-up in case someone stumbles on to this issue later: Yes, the issue appears to be fixable with degaussing. I bought a cheap degaussing wand on ebay (if you search for “degaussing coil”, you’ll probably see a ton of these cheap (10-20 USD) green wands: that’s what I bought). I...

    Colour Classic screen issue

If you somehow get it fixed, please post it here. I'm in the same boat you are in: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/color-classic-screen-dim-spot.44760/

    eMac Chimes / No Video

I was given an eMac (G4/1.25 USB 2.0) recently that needed some recapping (one bad cap on the motherboard and almost all of the caps on the DVD drive / hard drive power supply). After re-capping, I thought it was good so I bought some stuff to max it out (RAM and an SSD). After installing the...

Color Classic Screen / Dim Spot

Below is a picture. Simple text is open to show the issue better. This unit hasn't been shipped in at least 25 or 30 years, so I don't think it was something loose from shipping. I do remember a time when the screen was perfect, maybe about 15 years ago. If I recall, it gave off a high pitched...

Color Classic Screen / Dim Spot

I dont think its burnt in. I've seen a few burnt in color CRTs and it doesn't really look like this. Also, the burnt in Mac CRTs Ive seen you can really see it around the menu bar.

    Mac 512ke no sound

Unity, I did test continuity with the cable, but to be sure I just re flowed the cable connector a couple minutes ago. Unfortunately, it didn't change the sound issue. Phipli, I'm starting to realize why people care about cameras on their phones; these images below are probably not useful...

    Mac 512ke no sound

I have my original Mac 512ke I've had since I was a kid in the 90s. I'm trying to show it some love after all these years (and a career in computers that started with this little mac) and get it more than fully working. While the machine appears to work after some tweaking, audio doesn't. I've...

Color Classic Screen / Dim Spot

I am the fortunate owner of a Color Classic. However, it has a screen issue. Basically, there is a big chunk of the screen that appears a bit dimmer than the rest. I've tried playing with the brightness, tweaking the (exposed) CRT settings, and even started just recapping the analog board. The...

    MacClip with broken socket(s)

A month or so ago I bought a MacClip on eBay (with the ultimate goal of running Minix, Common Lisp and a lot of that fancy Mac Plus software on my childhood Mac512ke!). Unknown to me at the time, this MacClip had a couple broken sockets. I know these old plastics are brittle, and I would...

Macintosh Performa 5260/CD – Bad resistor?

I have a Macintosh Performa 5260/CD that appears to be dead. When plugged in and turned on, it gives a faint clicking sound, no video, no chimes. On disassembly, I noticed like a fine soot. Pulling the power supply board, I found what appears to be a burned up resistor (“r814”?). However, since...
