Doesn't appear to have a keyboard or mouse either, which for the 128, 512, and plus, are propritary(though i believe you can get/make adapters?)
Personally I'd keep an eye out for an SE as a 1st compact mac, uses an ADB keyboard/mouse which are much more common.

Yeah, the main reason to use the external power is if your machine does not support termination power(which isn't too many, Mac Plus without a mod, the IISI, and I think like, some adapters for Powerbooks to connect a DB25 to the powerbook external SCSI Connector)
