    LC 575/PDS ethernet

An update on the Color Classic II - I came across a good deal on a 575 board, so I ended up doing the VGA mod and putting the board in. I think of it as win/win - the AB had already been modified for the high-res mod, so I wasn't ruining a stock machine, and the speed jump is nice! Everything's...

    Color Classic II!

Just added a 68882 today, and my Artmix SCSI-CF unit should arrive any day. 36MB RAM, now all I need is a VRAM Upgrade. Anyone?

    Color Classic II!

I thought it sounded too easy myself! I rotated the case parts every hour or so, but other than that I sort of winged it. I think it helped that I cleaned it almost obsessively and submerged it in 75 degrees celsius water beforehand, I think it "opens up" the plastic a bit. No effect in the...

    Color Classic II woes...

I ended going back to 512x384 for now. I was able to compare my junk board to the good one to make sure I got all the modifications reversed, ended up needing to remove one resistor the previous owner had added and reconnect two spots that had been isolated. I might do 640x480 some other time...

    Color Classic II!

As promised, here are pics of the restored CC II! I wanted to use JDW's retrobrite technique, but I have a one year old son and didn't think I could spend a whole day tending to it. I ended up trying a method I saw on an Amiga board - I filled a large tub with hot water, added half a bottle of...

    Color Classic II woes...

I'm with you on that. Thing is, this is the rare CC II analog board, and it doesn't match up with any of the guides I've found online. It's a little different in that it's missing the resistor and instead relies on wiring a sense line wire. I think I just need to restore the connection for the...

    Color Classic II woes...

Think I found my problem, not sure if there's a solution or if I just need to live with it. Turns out it's most likely related to the pre-existing 640x480 mod drawing a little extra power. When I dial down the horizontal width just barely the jittering disappears, and when I crank it up it...

    QuickTime decal?

So after a second round of retrobrite and some thorough cleaning, I think I was a bit off on what happened - the black part of the sticker didn't bleed through, it actiqlly protected the plastic underneath so well that it's the original, perfect, pristine color, and even after all sorts of...

    QuickTime decal?

I'll give the magic eraser a try, I've just always heard they can really damage the plastics if used too much so I'm a little wary. If that fails I might just put a goofy little sticker there.

    QuickTime decal?

I'm with you completely, I guess I'm thinking th sticker would look better than the faded stain from where it used to be... I used to work IT at a hospital and would always spend the first few minutes with a new XP laptop taking off the stickers. I've already bought the machine, why try to keep...

    QuickTime decal?

So I'm mostly done with the case on my new Color Classic II - gave it a retrobrite treatment which I'll describe in the main thread. Only problem is that the little QuickTime decal was scuffed up pretty badly. I took it off before I scrubbed the case and brited it. The case is now a perfect...

    Color Classic II woes...

I tried my best to get it on video, but the iPhone camera combined with the CRT refresh rate make it pretty worthless. I guess the best way to describe it is that characters look like they're dancing - each character is sort of wiggly, like watching old interlaced tv stuff where the lines aren't...

    Color Classic II woes...

Definitely had that thought, it's just sort of my only troubleshooting option right now... I've used brand new capacitors, the junk board has only supplied things like the flyback transformer and some of the harder to find parts. I swap them out one at a time to see if there's any change, and so...

    Color Classic II woes...

Hi there! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm over here in Tokyo, where I've managed to get my hands on not one but two Color Classic IIs. The first one came from a yahoo auction and is perfect except for some video issues. The second is a junk machine with an analog board that was mangled...
