Monitors has an interesting history with the early versions.
If you put the Monitors cdev in the System Folder under System 6, it won't show up in the Control Panel on a black and white Mac. It does open on one in System 7, but won't do much unless you have an external monitor installed.

LaCie certainly had some interesting designs. My personal favorite was the Backster, which mounted on the back of a compact Mac. (I've always thought that it would give enough depth, if modified, to fit the CC's CRT into another case while installed).
I have a 190 sitting around and while it currently won't boot up, it's not a terrible machine. I got one that was almost new a few years ago on eBay.
I always felt there was an identity crisis with the 190. It was some odd cross between the 520/540, 5300, and 150. The 100-series naming also...
If it's an SE/30, which it definitely is, you need to replace the capacitors on the logic board.
An SE/30 board will fit perfectly inside a regular SE. You may want to check your floppy drive to see if it was upgraded to a 1.4MB drive. Pop in a known good high density disk (if the drive is...
The SE/30 has been in demand since the day it was discontinued.
Look at materials from very late 1991 into 1992. The SE/30 was a beloved machine when new and was even described in one book as a "perennial favorite". This was in 1994. (Source: "Upgrading and Repairing Macs", published by QUE)...
Having been around these Macs since Larry Pina was writing, I can say that I've used Pluses with 4MB and no fan without a problem.
The likely reason Pina writes this is because the Plus (and earlier) had no fan and were prone to overheating when used in, say, a 9-to-5 environment, five days per...
A few notes that haven't been mentioned yet:
1. The Apple Keyboard II was also an option for the SE and SE/30 in 1991 with purchase. As I've talked about before here, there were a number of SEs made in early 1991. My school purchased SEs that year with the Keyboard II. However, Apple still sold...
The chart is wrong.
Model by model, here are some (but not all) requirements:
NOTE: I use the System version, not the "System Software" version, in my references.
512Ke: will run any system through 6.0.8.
Plus: will run any system version through 7.5.5. Shipped with 3.0 in its first run...
As others have said, re-capping the components, removing and replacing the battery, and looking at other moving parts such as the floppy gear are all excellent steps to take. (The only exception is if someone already re-capped those boards, re-furbished the floppy drive, or the battery was...
It certainly looks promising, although I wasn't able to track down a Mac version of it. eBay has tons of Windows CDs though.
I did find a compiler advertised as 68K compatible called Roaster. After reading an online review, I figured $20 for a copy of it wasn't a bad deal, so I went ahead and...
Don't forget the LCII variant Performa 4xx machines. The 410 was built until November 1993 and even got the 475-style case! (Of course, so did some non-US LCIIs...I think they were in Australia, can anyone from there verify?)
Ooh, a 1996! Any chance you have the week number on it?
There is still a shop in my neighborhood which uses an ImageWriter II for receipts. It's connected to a Quadra of some variety.
Sparked by the discussion in another topic about LC475s being manufactured later than thought, here's a question--who out there has the newest ImageWriter II?
According to most sources, the ImageWriter II was still around as late as 1996. They got the brown shipping boxes and revised manuals...
The drive came with Adaptec Toast (back when it was Adaptec). I believe the version was 4 offhand. It seems to me that was the only way to make this drive work. I'm not sure if that version of Toast was optimized for it or not, but it was included on a purple CD with the Zip name on it.
Come to...
