Interesting. Someone must have been in this Mac, as the drive was replaced with a quantum LPS (low profile, SCSI edition) and the tray was discarded as well. My tray doesn’t look like that, and there’s no led either. I plan to use a bluescsi instead as the heads are damaged in the LPS, so I’ll...
well i have a ton of these LED's pulled from 486 and pentium systems that used activity LED's that were connected to drives directly, so i should be able to adapt one of those, and just solder directly to J2 on my drive. from there i could either superglue or tape to the original light pipe.
I’m working on restoring yet another Macintosh SE, and I found that the system had been upgraded with the maximum ram amount, as well as a quantum prodrive LPS. The drive was put in without an activity light, and the original is not present in the case. I am wondering if there is any way to make...
Use enough flux, wick, and a wide chisel tip. Soldering gun will help and you can preheat the board for better results as well as reflowing the solder before removing it. Use a snug nozzle on dip pins, and also wiggle the chip when you are done and don't pry, as it can rip pads off. Remove the...
you are definitely correct, I used to have a 15" 2009 i7 mac that I used for many years, should have kept it. Funnily enough this machine was also a Core 2 Duo.
Fixed it. Tore it down completely then built it back up. Made a new universal installer of 10.4 and installed through target disk mode on a machine with a much more stable and quicker drive. Then, installed the update. Everything seems stable for now.
This macbook was 19.99 at the shop I went to, having a few bins of stuff. I definitely want to try turning it on and testing it with my benchtop supply
When I downloaded shuriken, it was a folder am I opened it there was three folders. In folder 1 haven't download link for 10.4.11 update, I did that and then it crashed right before the download completed.
I use these. That's a Digikey key link but I'm sure you can find them on Mauser. In reality any 64 pin DIP socket works but I prefer machined pin sockets
okay, this is frustrating.
I swapped out a working pram from another system so:
1GB ram
SD to IDE adapter (64GB, SDXC)
Installed from target disk mode via another system. Used a download link from shuriken to start downloading 10.4.11, a little before the download is complete it crashed again...
Hi. Today I found a unibody 2009 13" MacBook Pro at the thrift. Here is what it looks like:
I noticed that the palmrest had some very bad indents in it.
Upon further inspection, it seems someone else has been inside the MacBook.
A few screw heads were definitely showing signs of use...
