I have a 4MB card and tried modding it to 8MB but all I get is a death chime. I know for sure the chips are good, so it's something on the card that needs to be changed seemingly... part number is XMP 54004/163A014781
That did the trick! Unfortunately the system froze right as Geekbench was finishing up and now it starts without a chime and it won't finish loading. Might be a RAM issue or something else but I'm curious as to how far I should push a 1GHz 7455A at 1.6V. 1.3 was stable until that happened, as...
I actually used to have a Ti4600 at one point that I snuck out of the city dump years ago but it failed weeks after I got it because the fan went out and I was unaware of that issue :/
I see... I'll probably try that. I did tin all the pads with fresh solder and clean it up with wick like dosdude1 does in his videos, but perhaps that isn't enough for these.
You should document this! I have a Performa 6360 that had a PSU failure and I didn't really feel like fixing it anymore after I got my 6400. How'd you do everything? What computer did you use as a base?
Just for fun probably... but frankly faster G3s and G4s are my minimum for OS X. Honestly I think it would be interesting to see it run on my PowerMac 6400 though I'm not quite sure if it would work even with the upgrade card. If I'm not mistaken the L2 CPU upgrades work by literally holding the...
I have a 2002 iMac G4 15" (P80) that I pulled off one of my shelves to mess around with because I don't really use it a whole lot. I got curious since I had a couple 7455A CPUs on hand I bought off of eBay about a couple years ago and after years of practicing soldering and hot air work I...
Very nice... if only someone could get Radeon 9600 cards (or any R300 card for that matter) working with full acceleration and driver support in Mac OS 9. Geforce4 Ti 4600 GPUs are a real pain to find. ;_;
It is a sad thing to think about... my trusty dual 1GHz G4 just threw an error at me about the cache failing testing in Mac OS 9. When I boot into OS X it becomes clear that the L3 cache does not show up. Is there anything I can do to fix this or am I screwed?
i don't have equipment to polish these up but i was able to clean the plastics up rather well... also the antiglare film on those monitors tends to start deteriorating if not taken care of properly (and also due to age), so you'll need to take it apart and peel off the film.
Got all of this for $80 from a guy in my city yesterday. Everything works (except the gigabit G4 which has a bad PSU) but also I really need to clean these up badly. They weren't stored in a good area and are very dirty....
Hello... I have a PowerMac G4 Gigabit model with an AcBel PSU that does not power on. The capacitors don't seem to be leaking or bulging but I'm getting absolutely nothing out of the PSU. Apparently theres a guy on eBay doing repair services for these power supplies but I don't know what he is...
*sigh*
after much screwing around i now have a working "A1208" iMac with a functioning board and with the wires re-routed properly from their original positions for the A1195 motherboard to the other board. granted i had to track down another broken iMac to fix this one but now i have a nicer...
