    MacFlim v.2.0.18 release

Definitely not spam! Probably the best vintage Mac "show off" software that exists. Were you reading my mind? MacFlim was something I was just going to try on a Mac Plus just built with a Micromac Performer card and configuring software on it next :D

1710av fading away (any hope for saving, or retrofit?)

CRT rejuvenators = most useful as a last resort for coarse pitch CRTs as used in high hour arcade monitors, would say PC monitors would be a no go due to finer pitch and sensitivity. I've got this 14" cocktail arcade with a sharp CRT image, but it dims big time with bright images; was used in a...

1710av fading away (any hope for saving, or retrofit?)

It it is a CRT with thousands of hours and has slowly gotten worse - the tube is dying a slow and predictable death. It may also be evident when you display a bright white image - if the screen dims even more then doing this, that's another sign of wear. CRT rejuvenation is like rebuilding a...

    30-PIN SIMM Tester

My go to tester has been a 486 motherboard! It POSTS quickly and you can run Memtest on it

Macintosh SE powered off unexpectedly, strong electrical smell

If you’re in between a fair bit of it, maybe a nicely done steak

G4 Cube Speaker Driver Paint Color?

The paint matches the G4 casing - a close match to repaint would be a cool off white. In Australia a common roof colour is "Surfmist" in Colorbond steel, and a close match IMO if looking for spray paint.

    128K: bad RAM repair

Hi, resurrecting a very old thread, but was mine from 2016! I'm replacing a 16 x 4164 RAM chips in this very 128K board, where two chips replaced above some years ago, now more chips are failing so going to replace the lot with sockets and NOS 4164 ICs. Could I please ask for advice regarding...

Weird dotted lines on Macintosh 128k

The third-party RAM upgrades for early Macs were often precariously placed in sockets, with wiring going to random points so have a look inside and see - check wiring all in place and see if the RAM upgrade can be potentially be reseated and contacts cleaned. I'm currently restoring a couple of...

    PM G5 (late 2005) boot/wake problem

Try the basics, you've got the small CUDA/SMU reset switch on the motherboard, also replace CR2032 battery, reset PRAM and NVRAM (via Open Firmware). There is also the Apple Hardware Test CD to diagnose and test things in further detail. I'd also remove the KVM during this time as they are...

    Here? In a small town?

Any brand name “high performance” SD card will do you will never fill 1GB let alone 32GB but find it good having a larger card to fit and try various OS installs etc.

Zuluscsi Laptop RP2040- What laptops does it suit?

as in Mac Portable? No you’ll need a harness made for any 3.5” SCSI 50 pin HD, then another adapter for 3.5 - 2.5” for the ZuluSCSI. Not worth the expense of all the adapters.

Weird dotted lines on Macintosh 128k

It's most likely failed RAM, is the analogue board recapped/check voltages

    Classic II squealing audio issue

There is most likely a very marginal trace around the sound IC, check here first and reflow the IC itself. Did you ultrasonic clean the analog board too? Another source of noise with the gap goo often trickling down under components.

SE/30 powers on, no chime, HDD spins, then horizontal lines; advice before buying + recap recommendations?

Good the seller checked - many would not bother! It's worth $50 - 100, as you might need to merge parts from your upcoming mostly working SE/30 - notably the PSU, floppy drive, casing

TV Tuner Solution for LC 5xx ?

Might be easier to get your MacTV board fixed/send away over finding the rarely seen PDS card for the 520/550

    Here? In a small town?

Congrats on the find! If you have never seen one in your town and will never see it again, get it - a few hundred bucks for is fair. The Mac SE is generally very reliable (ideally recap PSU and analogue board caps in turn), and runs early software notably faster than a Plus.

    Help with error code

It points to a RAM failure, like one or more of the 16 X 4164 RAM ICs have failed. Very common - ideally you want to replace the lot with sockets and replacement chips.

    Black Lines on Performa 400

VRAM! Any chance you've another module from another Mac to test?

SE with Performer 68030 accelerator slow booting

Check PSU voltages, and maybe fresh OS install as a test. I've found the Performer extension, once loaded, does speed up boot times but only slightly (mine in a Mac Plus)
