KURB's World - Vintage Macs, PCs and more

Some of those SGI machines are really strange about nvram as well. My O2 will not boot if the battery has died as it's unable to detect scrambled nvram and wipe it. Not sure if the Indy is the same, but if it is, there's a "recovery" jumper on the board which you'll need to set or it won't even...

The one keyboard to rule them all

I like the third picture that clearly illustrates "these do not work on older Keychron keyboards" a lesson I have also learned the hard way.

The one keyboard to rule them all

$5 is....significantly more reasonable. I really yearn for the chiclets though.

The one keyboard to rule them all

Link? I've got a set of these for low profiles which are IIgs-like, but they're kinda expensive for the quality: https://knob.design/keyset

    Sonic MediaNet drivers

I determined I just needed the latest version of ShrinkWrap (3.x) to unpack the 5.2.1 image. Fortunately it contains MediaNet 1.6.1! I'll give it a go and make another post if there's anything interesting with this card.

Highest Version of System Software on Mac 512K & 512Ke

Last year I started a thread here as well, though skimming through it I don't think there were any additional insights: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/mac-ii-hd20-support.46559/

    Sonic MediaNet drivers

I should have been clearer, sorry...I stumbled on those too but sadly they seem less "complete" and don't include the needed MediaNet configuration tooling. I thought they were just upgraders or needed dongles, but given that support page, maybe not! So perhaps the software is usable, just not...

Looking for: Lapis ColorServer PDS/30-14 Drivers Updated 32bit-clean Firmware?

The Lapis cards seem a little hodgepodge in my experience. There's a surprising number of part numbers and no mapping that I know of to specific model numbers, the ROM labels tend to be the same for different cards, and as @cheesestraws notes, they tend not to work with later OS, in my...

    Sonic MediaNet drivers

I recently picked up a Sonic MediaNet NuBus server board for a few dollars. Probably not very useful without a whole bundle of Sonic cards and clients, but I figured it'd be fun to play with for essentially free. From what I've found, MediaNet has an interesting history that's spottingly...

Upgrading a Daystar Turbo 601 for IIci from 66MHz to 100MHz - Success!

Running the Thunder II 1360 at 1600x1200

I’ve seen reference to a 3.1 ROM revision, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen one. Sadly the price isn’t right especially when I don’t need another one…https://ebay.us/m/Amaljv Wonder what‘s different.

    Amiga: the fastest 68k Mac

I believe they work with pure 060 setups, no host CPU needed. Ignoring the FPU, which shouldn't be needed for boot, the instructions requiring the emulation package really aren't bad: The unimplemented integer instructions are: DIVU.L <ea>,Dr:Dq 64/32 ⇒ 32r,32q DIVS.L <ea>,Dr:Dq 64/32 ⇒...

    Amiga: the fastest 68k Mac

I'm no expert at either, but if I remember correctly, the Amiga 060 support packages are loaded as libraries, thus already at a moderately late stage in ROM initialization. Obviously that's dependent on the actual instructions used by ROM before RAM is setup, and it's possible Macs get...

    Dim patch on SE/30 screen?

Thanks for the suggestions! It needs a recap anyway so I think I'll give that a go first and see where that leaves me. Overall the CRT seems intact (if a bit tired) despite the slightly jostled geometry magnets. The linearity problem specifically is suggested by the Scrolls as a bad resistor, so...

    Radius Rocket Compatibility

Yeah, I was hoping maybe it would blit the graphics commands directly from the Rocket to the card with RocketShare running, but it doesn't seem like that's the case either. Still the same slow Radius Virtual Graphics, at least for me.

    Dim patch on SE/30 screen?

My SE/30 has developed a dim region on the screen which doesn't match any of the Dead Mac Scrolls diagnostics. I'm getting some occasional flickering, so I definitely think the analog board is due for a recap, but this behavior is curious. Essentially, about 25% of the left side of the screen...
