I also have one of these, and also the Graphite DVI version that appeared a couple of years later. I'm only missing the B&W G3 version that was identical to yours, sans the colour scheme and had a VGA connector instead. These are nice displays for the time! Yours is in much better condition...
Not a topic I have much experience on, but I vaguely recall that these units will “die” if the cells are disconnected/drop below a certain voltage as a component on the BMS is designed to only ever power up once. As I’m writing this I’m now starting to doubt myself though.. I don’t have the...
Oh indeed, but it also means we can claim him for our own!
Funny how that happens.. I think I only know it because of VH1s Pop Up Video which mentioned something about it in its ‘trivia’.
If only I could afford one!
Cos that's what I was quoting:
"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder
You better run, you better take cover."
Although I always chuckle at that because Colin Hay, their lead singer, is actually...
That's the question.. assuming it's that then we'd need to work out what components control that and attempt to test them. But there's no point doing anything like that until you've been able to confirm any differences on the output from those connectors.
AThis isn’t a system I’ve had particularly large amounts of time spent on, but my immediate suspicion will be an under/over voltage issue to the inverter. Maybe you could use a multimeter to map out both sets of pins on the display connector and see if there’s any variation between the working...
Firmware v2.1 should work fine with that accelerator and system 7.1, from memory… but it may be worth trying system 6.0.8 and see if it boots with that?
Can’t say I’ve ever tested it. It’ll be limited by its weakest link.. I think the scsi controller on all those systems would be faster than the speed of the 600e, but other things could have slowed it down.
I suspect the reason it’s minimum spec is the IIci is other related functionality...
