Fortunately I have quite a big selection of video cards to choose from for it.. but yeah, the prices for them has went up a fair bit recently. I’d love to get a SCSI card for it too, but they’re ridiculously expensive now.
Yeah I was admiring that bracket, it's pretty cool! Very nice setup.. my IIfx doesn't have anything in it. Like.. literally nothing. I got a case from @mg.man (thank you!) for a brand new board I have sitting around that hopefully works (it's in an upgrade kit box)... but it's lacking a power...
I found this in the book section of one of my local charity shops for 99p. Quite interesting.. seems to be a HyperCard version of the book. I believe it also pre-dates the movie!
I’m still convinced that it was for an RF tuner, just probably an earlier version that was of a different footprint. I’m betting they planned one for later 500 series machines, but by the time the cards development had progressed sufficiently they realised they needed to use a bigger PCB and...
My educated guess is that they planned the tuner/AV cards for the 520 series of desktop Macs, but it wasn't ready in time, so that bay was never utilised. They then decided they'd just wait until the 5200 was ready as it'd meet more stringent requirements for tilting the device.
Does it actually spin up? I had an issue with my IIcx where most things worked but the floppy was completely dead, turned out to be a trace with either the +5v or +12v rail so it effectively wasn’t getting power.
