Nice!! Glad to hear it works. So it’s sharing files just fine then? If so I’ll merge it in and have it part of the official releases from now on. I kinda winged it on where to place the truncation ID. I thought having the extension at the end be unchanged (so it would be FILE~ABCD.txt vs...

And release 0.4.5 is building now with the change: https://github.com/FeralFirmware/TailTalk/releases/tag/0.4.5

I did see that, but I mistakenly thought that since Finder appeared to display longer ones OK that things were a little flexible. It turns out they very much are not haha. I play a bit loose with file IDs currently in that they’re ephemeral on each start. I think I was likely going to bolt some...

Fab! Will get this one in tonight and get another patch release out. You are an absolute star, thank you!

Interestingly it looks like having any >32 character file/folder in the visited path was enough to make it crash (So even if you were reading /path/myfolder but /path/areallylongname>32charactershere existed it would trip it). I put together a really lazy name mangler to truncate it to max 31...

So I think I've partially reproduced it - I've cloned your directory tree based on the log you sent me and went to the same path as the pcap. I can list the folder just fine, but if I do a Get Info on it I get an address fault. Will start digging in to this to figure out what it might be. Thanks...

oh interesting - is it any particular file that does this, or just any file at all? Any chance you could try on a new share folder with say one or two files in it? Just to have details to reproduce. You were right though in that I’m still exceeding the AFP spec for file name length, so I...

Thanks to @Iesca I think we have the regression in 0.4.3 fixed in 0.4.4 here: https://github.com/FeralFirmware/TailTalk/releases/tag/0.4.4. The TL;DR is - I had wrong offsets in the FPEnumerate response after MacRoman conversion, and also character encodings are hard and we should just all go...

    TashTalk USB

Yup yup, it is a CP2102N and just shows up as a virtual serial port. The device itself lets you set the manufacturer and product names which I have been setting (product name is "TashTalk USB" when querying) and then auto-select and display in the drop down box for device selection in the GUI...

As the Netatalk maintainer you can have one on the house :) I have relied so much on Netatalk code for understanding how to make AFP work properly and it is the least I can do to say thanks. When the new set comes in I'll put one aside for you, just DM me your shipping info if you're interested.

Ooo that doesn't look good, sorry about that! Is this only happening in 0.4.3 or what is the first version that you see this in? Could you possibly do a file list of the directory you are serving up as an attachment (Perhaps with this as the command) find /path/to/your/share -exec stat -f "%HT...

    TashTalk USB

I just put an order in today, so should be here a week on Monday most likely. I also had PCBWay reach out to sponsor a run, so I might be able to do some reduced price ones for forum members. Still trying to figure it out with them of course. I messaged Joe as well and heard back, and I think...

Well that didn’t take long before someone just took the design files and just made them for cheaper without saying anything to me 🫠 I get it’s GPL licensed but it would have been nice to at least say something. So uh, get em cheaper here I guess https://jcm-1.com/product/tashtalk-usb/

Figured out the bullet issue - It helps if I convert back to MacRoman on the reverse direction :) Fix will be in the next release.

    AppleShare Client for System 4

That above one did the trick, thank you! Installed surprisingly on System 3.1 with Finder 5.2. I suppose the silly question now is - Do I need a working keyboard to connect? I can get to the AppleShare Chooser screen, I can see my server, but I cannot figure out how to actually connect to it...

Hm do you see anything interesting if you watch Console on the iMac? Curious if there’s any logs that might help explain it. Is it going through a USB hub or anything like that, or just plugging straight in? Any chance you could try another cable just in case too? Will take a look at the...

    AppleShare Client for System 4

Ahh ok, for some reason I thought it was tied to Sys 3.3. Perfect then, thanks!

    AppleShare Client for System 4

Is there an archive of the installer for AppleShare Workstation (Or client? I am unsure which name is right) for System 4? I've got a 512K running HyperDrive V3R2's release of Mac System Software which is equivalent to System 4.1 AFAIU (Finder 5.5) and I'd like to get AppleShare going on it, but...
