PowerBook 540c Replace CCFL with LED

after a long, deep dive into "how to manipulate a PWM signal for Dummies," i went back to the original board. Most of these LED controller boards are just the DF6113 "example circuit" with a voltage converter on the output. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the DF6113 and realized my...

    PowerBook 1400 Hinge Fix Shim

if i understand the question... this is designed to re-use the existing bosses; melt-push the bosses into the holes until they are flush to the face of the printed shim. at that point, the bosses will also be in contact with the existing case-wall. to wit, the shim is the same thickness as...

PowerBook 540c Replace CCFL with LED

i corrected a few flaws and produced a second board; REV1 has a better traces all around. The improved power rail revealed 16v was too much for the LED strip; the appearance of magic smoke led me to get a little step-down converter, turning the PowerBook’s 16v into 9v. The resulting 9v powers...

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

i feel this. I have tried to model it and given up, several times. your version looks good, the basic structure is excellent; the creepy double-parabola-thing is a little off, but sometimes in television we say, “Done Is Art.” I’m printing four of these right now tonight.

Markings On The Back of 500 Series Powerbook LCD Panels

hey, i'm happy to be part of the team. the $80 LQ94D041 was from china (some kind of New Old Stock); i got the eBay LQ94D041 for like $25 (that one came with a cable taped to it, obviously a pull from a nice person that didn't fall for eBay’s "automatic" pricing scam).

SmartPortSD for IIc with custom case

i opened a test image into a hex editor and simply deleted the first 64 bytes. resaved & renamed, it opened just fine on the SmartPortSD. Thank for the assist... the 2mg documentation makes it especially clear & easy, the header is delineated by an intentionally blank space: 0030-003F: 00 00...

SmartPortSD for IIc with custom case

I wanted to make a SmartPortSD for my IIc. I previously mounted a FloppyEMU in the internal drive; that project turned out fine, but precluded use of the FloppyEMU as a SmartPort device without some creepy wiring. I decided to make a SmartPortSD adapter using erichelgeson’s instructions at...

PowerBook 540c Replace CCFL with LED

looking around for ideas, i found an old instructable by a dude that made his own controller board. The board uses software to convert the analog signal to PWM for the LED—i think the code could flip the reversed signal. I am not skilled at electronics, but i know how to make things. I put the...

    Makeshift Battery for PB180

sunuvabitch... on some prior job, pastAE never reconnected the battery cage thermistor, it was just that simple. 180 works great and recognizes the new battery. i might have found that on my own--but i really appreciate the assist. folks, check the cables before you close the case.
