Powermac Quicksilver 2002 keep overheating with Fastmac 1.4 Ghz card

Can you post quality photos of both sides of the processor card, without the heatsink? We'll try to locate the voltage regulator and see what Vcore it's set to. And a photo of the processor's inscription. The factory heatsink is too small, less efective.

Interest in adapting 744x to 7400?

@herd, looking at the 7410 and 7447 datasheets, the 7410 has A[0-31] and the 7447 has A[0-35], so the 7447 has four additional pads. How can it work on a 7410 socket? The same goes for other pads like AP or DTI.

Powermac Quicksilver 2002 keep overheating with Fastmac 1.4 Ghz card

Yesterday I was reviewing the PDF for this processor, and I believe it does have an L3 cache, but there are only jumpers for selecting speed; you can't adjust Vcore without a soldering iron. If changing the airflow doesn't improve performance, try lowering the processor speed a bit. If the...

Powermac Quicksilver 2002 keep overheating with Fastmac 1.4 Ghz card

I would run these tests: * Remove thermal pad, clean and add good thermal compound, like herd said. * Turn on the rubber fan and the CPU fan. * Disconnect the additional fan under the optical drive. Check the temperature. If it's still high: * Lower the CPU voltage by 0.05V or 0.1V and see...

Powermac Quicksilver 2002 keep overheating with Fastmac 1.4 Ghz card

Hi, I notice a detail: the fan under the black rubber. The original QS fan is upside down. It should be drawing air in, not out. The 12cm fan below the tower draws air out. Try also reverse the CPU fan.

Cube Owners: Artmix VRM II available, slightly updated

I don't want to take any credit away from Artmix; on the contrary, I know it won't be comparable to their work. And I'm not suggesting buying it on Aliexpress either; those links were just examples. I usually buy PSUs and similar items from local computer stores; I wouldn't power a Cube with a...

Cube Owners: Artmix VRM II available, slightly updated

Sorry, I included a couple of Aliexpress links as examples, but they're sold everywhere. I've attached some photos. They're typical PICO PSUs, and they come in different power ratings. I'd just need to know where to buy the CUBE VRM connector to adapt them to the motherboard. And with a...

Cube Owners: Artmix VRM II available, slightly updated

Maybe I'm going to say something outrageous, but I have this question. Just as an ATX power supply can be adapted to the G4 towers, couldn't one of these Pico ATX PSUs be modified to fit in a Cube? With a "big" +12V power supply. PICO PSU 1 PICO PSU 2 Without the +28V for the ADC, of course.

Interest in adapting 744x to 7400?

The G3 that came in the last G3 iMacs that reached 700MHz, if I remember correctly, was the 750CXe, which perhaps improved the internal cache, did they incorporate improvements that could match the results with those of a 7410?

    PowerMac G4 Sawtooth Repair?

hello. It all depends on the value you give to that specific G4. If it has value for you, look for another cheap one and make one of the two. If it has no special value, look for another one in good functional and aesthetic condition, and use that one.

    iMac G4 700 display issue

I have been doing some tests, and the assembly as per the initial scheme had two problems, when the computer was put into sleep mode, or the screen was put into sleep mode, the image turned off but the LEDs remained on. Also, while it was working, the brightness oscillated. The problem is...

    iMac G4 700 display issue

Hello, I received the LED kit yesterday and installed it today. Everything seems to be working, you just have to be careful when opening and closing the display. I made the connection as in the diagram in the previous post, information I found here: Schematic Although I have first checked the...

    Mathey MSATA-13UMAC IDE/SATA card

Very interesting post, I have a hard time continuing because my English is not very good, but from what I understand, that ROM does not work on any card with that VIA chip, right? I found this very cheap card that does have an EPROM chip, but it has 3 SATA and 1 ATA. I don't know if it would be...

7451 to 7455 iMac G4 CPU swap attempt (WIP)

Your comment puts me at ease. I started using 0.76 balls with 66/37 and currently I feel more comfortable working with 0.65, and so far it works well for me. I do have to say that the CPU stays closer to the PCB and the balls tend to "collapse" a little, they stay flatter. Could this be a...

iMac G3 tray "NVRAM Partition invalid (bad checksum)" error

I use the Apple and Alt keys, together in the photo, original Apple keyboard, Alt=Option. Command-Option-P-R, I've made three chimes and it's still the same. Three commands are used in Open Firmware: reset-nvram set-defaults reset-all Same error.

iMac G3 tray "NVRAM Partition invalid (bad checksum)" error

Hi, I'm working on this iMac and, even though I put a new battery in it, every time I start it up it shows me this message on the screen, along with the folder symbol with a question mark, and after a few seconds it boots from the first partition. Even if I select another partition in the boot...
