    Broken floppy drive?

You're going to have to open the system and remove the floppy drive and do the cleaning & lube procedures outlined above. There's also good chance that one of the tiny gears in the drive may need to be replaced.

Mac Classic floppy giving error message that all disks are unreadable or damaged, both before and after a refurb, cleaning and lube

Howdy! Have you tested the floppy drive from the Classic in your LCIII to confirm that the drive itself is not the problem?

Having trouble burning a bootable Tiger disc for my G5 iMac

Probably not your problem, but there are versions of 10.4.x that are Intel-only and PPC only, just a thought.

Having trouble burning a bootable Tiger disc for my G5 iMac

You should determine exactly what model you have to understand exactly what OS it will run. (Early models needs minimum 10.3.5 and the later model needs 10.4.2. They should all run 10.5.x) There are several websites that will decode the serial number and tell you the model.

    Macintosh SE Not Working

I would recap the system. It may be other failing components that are frying the flyback.

Having trouble burning a bootable Tiger disc for my G5 iMac

Then I would assume it has something to with how the disc is being burned on the PC. But that's just a guess.

Having trouble burning a bootable Tiger disc for my G5 iMac

If it's the later model it may require 10.4.2 to boot.

Powerbook 150 powers up moment adapter plugged in

Replace the PRAM battery. If the PRAM battery is missing or dead it will behave that way. (This will also affect sleep/wake as well.) The regular battery probably has just enough juice to keep the PRAM from resetting.

    B&W G3: 820-0987-A board . . . with no FireWire ports??

The FW ports were in a separate module that connected to the board.

Opening up the Portable Macintosh's Power Adapter (M5136)

The glue probably cyanoacrylate (super glue) or something similar. It, along with the plastic is pretty brittle. Here's a vid that shows one method.

Opening up the Portable Macintosh's Power Adapter (M5136)

It's glued together. You'll have to use a thin, sharp knife to carefully pry along the seam, break the glue, and separate the case.

    Brittle plastic OMG!

Mac cases are not made of nylon. Also I remember hearing/reading somewhere way back when that part of the reason the old Macs are so brittle is because of the flame retardant chemicals that were added to the plastics back then.

    PowerLogix UltraCache 1MB UC1MB

Since I (apparently) see that solder bridge on both chips I would assume it's supposed to be there.

    PowerLogix UltraCache 1MB UC1MB

I don't have bench marks any more but when I went from 256 to a 1 meg cache in my 8500 the difference was huge. I forget what I paid for the cache, $100+? but it was worth it at the time. When I revived my 8500 a few months ago I couldn't get it to boot from the XLR8 carrier card (with a G4)...
