So picked up this 1400. Was basically destroyed by the removable battery. Surprise #1. Was kind of pissed as the listing said untested but it came with missing screws and was obviously opened. So didn’t do much with it until today. I decided to pull it all apart and see if i could clean logic...

Found it. Check to see if yours if blown up or burnt looking.

Right where the power supply plugs into the logic board there is one thing that blows up in the back side. Will have to take a picture and show you. But take a look and see. It is a little black rectangle. There are a few other things that it can possibly be too. Will do some research

So still trying to revive this. Just got back into it.

It is important to recap these now, but more importantly is new thermal paste on CPU. Out of 6 boards i have, 2 work. They seem sensitive. Have only had one bad 6100, and have 3 working. Also have an 8100 that turns on then off. Cant figure that one out either

Yeah really sucks. It did work perfectly at first with know issues. Then it just started doing that. Will take a closer look and see. Thanks for the info.

So this duo is really being a pain. Now the scren does this. Removed new caps and cleaned but still the same. Is it possible the lcd cable or the lcd just wants to die?

So, my first foray into these monitors was a pain but got it working. This second one was partially recapped but me thinking i should finish it was a mistake so far. It turns on, is recognized under monitors and displays a white screen. Brightness and contrast dont change anything. Any ideas...

Is the board working just sound issues? Or is the whole thing not working properly? If just sound i would focus on the sound chip. Has anything been recapped?

One is sound, other one is egret. Any blue/ green corrosion on legs?

Usually recapping will help most things, but getting rid of any extra cap leakage is important. So that makes anything surrounding leaking caps a target. The egret chip and sound chips usually get it good from cap juice. So in my experience i normally have to pull sound chip off and sometimes...

Yeah one backwards cap shouldnt do anything but with vintage, who knows? This little monitor worked good before so i hoping its easy to fix. All monitors i have done (6) have worked fine. Was hoping to fix that apple vision 17” but has same issues as before.

I tried adjustments but no real change. So will let electricity dissipate and wait over night. Will take apart and check my caps, reflow, and see if anything makes a difference.

How would one know if set correctly? Will look and see if there is a service manual for this

recapped a working 12” apple rgb color monitor. Pretty straightforward. Now i have a small band so i guess vertical collapse? Any idea what and where to check? I wonder is any of my new caps are an issue?

Recapped the main board. Reflowed all important areas. No change and still stuck at 640x 480. Oh well, i tried :(
