from what I understand, the earlier interwares don't have the ability to "sense" an attached display. as long as you have working PRAM, the menu bar/boot screen should be remembered after you set it.

not much is compatible from what I understand, other than the trackball, keyboard, and probably most of the plastic shell. the logic board, cpu board, and interconnect cables are not compatible between generations (140/145/145B/170, 160/165/180, and 165c/180c).[/B]

honestly for that specific task i'd suggest using a Zulu-Compatible SCSI Emulator in initiator mode

recapping / fiddling with the contrast and brightness usually helps disguise the afterimages. personally... I prefer my passive matrix powerbooks because they don't develop tunnel vision:LOL:

you'll have to build some sort of a test rig thing. at a minimum you'd need to extend the interconnect cable somehow.

sounds like your contrast is wrong. i assume you've fiddled with the slider? powerbook 160s don't have TFT panels, they have DTSN panels

have you replaced any of the mainboard caps? is the "good" power supply recapped?

all that software is mac software, so it's actually a Macintosh XL it's worth whatever you sell it for.
