Is my Performa 475 killing the VRAM?

Do you have a PRAM battery installed? I'm pretty sure the LC475 is unique in that form factor in needing a working PRAM battery for video to work. I think folks have some luck with quickly turning the power supply switch on, off, and on again to sort of jump start it without a battery.

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

I believe the stock LC power supplies are between 3.25A and 4.75A for 5V so 2A might not be enough. They are 0.75A to 1A for 12V so 2A should be more than enough there. There is the "POWER UP PIZZA" from CayMac, I built one recently, sourcing the Mean Well power supply modules from mouser...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

That jibes with what I see under Mac OS 8.6 but not 7.5, there I see the "leftmost" icon, not your new icon. Could this be because my 7.5 machine is doing AFP over AppleTalk and the 8.6 one is doing AFP over TCP/IP?

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Very Interesting! One thing though, from my screenshoots above it looks like Mac OS 8.6 is displaying the custom icon from the AppleShare volume (not ignoring it in favor of the Finder's own default icons). Maybe Mac OS 8 unintentionally did this (bug that was subsequently fixed)? Or was this in...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Thanks for the reply, I should have found the "volume name" thing, doh! The Netatalk progress has been amazing, I did find the answers to so many of my questions in the docs (got Webmin working for example), thank you for all your hard work! On the icons I totally get it, makes sense (even if I...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Working on retiring my MacIPRpi 5 home retro server in favor of a "new" MacIPRpi 6 one. Have them set up in parallel at the moment and pretty much everything moved over and working with one cosmetic thing bugging me, the AppleTalk share name and icon. Not sure how to control the...

    BlueSCSI on SE/30 problem

Found an old thread that appears related you might want to check out and/or resurrect: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/this-disk-is-unreadable.26123/

    BlueSCSI on SE/30 problem

The icon in that error message appears to be representing an external floppy disk drive, do you have one of those connected? If not something is making your Mac think that you do? ...or maybe that dialog icon is used for external removable SCSI drives, I take it you don;t have one of those...

SuperMac Marketing Tool Kit Vol. 1

Just posted to Macintosh Garden: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/supermac-marketing-tool-kit-vol-1 Looks like some neat stuff although you need period (1991) versions of Pagemaker, Persuasion, etc. to open the contents.

    Restoration CD for market software

Unfortunately I do not :-( (I have originals of discs 3, 5, and 6 v1.1) @MrFahrenheit would you happen to have an original of "Apple Restoration CD - System Software Disk 1 (September 1994)"?

    Power Computing PowerCenter Pro

So before I get to trying a CPU upgrade I needed a hard disk since the original was missing. Since the bundled Adaptec 2930BU SCSI card (AHA-2930B MAC) card supports Ultra SCSI, 20MB/s I wanted to make use of that if I could. From the Read Me: Fortuitously, BlueSCSI and ZuluSCSI recently...

IIsi power supply won't turn off, I'm deep in schematic land

Like @Garrett B I also have a recapped IIsi/Sony PS exhibiting this same behavior. In my case maybe ~20% of the time the Shutdown DOES stick and it doesn't start up again. One thing I wondered (coming from a place of zero real understanding of how this all works) was if what looks like a little...

    Power Computing PowerCenter Pro

I have a XLR8 CarrierZIF - XLR27 R1.0 in my collection but can't seem to find any info on that specific version of this ZIF G3 carrier card. I'd love to find way to use it in my PowerCenter Pro with a 60MHz bus setting. I have 266 G3/512KB ZIF module that I'm hoping would run at 240MHz (4 x...

    XLR8 CarrierZIF - XLR27 R1.0 switch settings

Does anyone know where I can find the manual and/or info on the switch settings for this CPU upgrade card? XLR27 R1.0 Copyright 1998-2000, XLR8 Inc XLR-H82K-XVJC-B572 I found some info on an older? version that has 12 switches but this one only has 10.

Realtek RTL8139D PCI Network Card Compatible with a PowerMac 6500?

I think the issue could be your WiFi router. It is much more common than not that they do not bridge the AppleTalk protocol traffic between their WiFi and Ethernet interfaces (as they absolutely do for TCP/IP). Apple's long discontinued AirPort basestation products support this but not sure if...

Was the Daystar Turbo 040 the best 040 accelerator?

I agree, neat machines. Reading the history, timing wise I definitely see how folks would be down on these models at the time. The much faster, cheaper Centris 650 arrived very quickly after. Taken on their own these are decent Macs compared to LCIIs and what not. I think the CD-ROM audio is...

    Power Computing PowerCenter Pro

I've always been aware of the Mac clones but I don't think I've understood/appreciated how different some were before now. I've mainly thought they were just the same as Apple's offerings in PC cases, i.e. my Umax SuperMac c500 is very similar to a Performa 6360 but without the Apple video...
