    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

I want to pass out the cigars and announce a new birth! My baby, my IIcx.. the machine that holds some very nostalgic value for me... has come through the operation with flying colors! He’s resting in post-op, but that op was a success! I have given birth to a IIcx maxed out with 131MB of RAM...

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

Alright... so I ought not to max out this thing with the new RAM I bought? Or, is that not the point? Sorry, not sure I’m following here. Is it that ALL the banks just have to be populated with something? That you guys think is my problem here? Thanks for all your time, peoples.

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

Guys, one thing: This is a IIcx, not a IIci.

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

Hmm... Might be worth looking into to confirm. Thank you for this :) But, does this equally apply to the IIcx?

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

I believe the stock / old SIMMs are ... 4MB? The new ones are 16. Are not the larger-capacity SIMMS supposed to be in bank A? They are modern SIMMs, and to your second point, this is what I also believe to be true.

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

The original SIMMs were performing well. Why do you say to put them back in order to test this? Thanks.

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

This is something I absolutely will do barring a suggestion that doesn't require me to move those retaining pins more than is necessary. Did that make sense? LOL I don't believe they're badly-seated. They did seem to lock / snap into place, and they're pretty solid now.

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

Hey there... as far as I can tell, I removed the original SIMMs damage-free, and installed the new ones -- just four in the RAM bank that is closer to the hard drive. I believe this is the "A" bank? And, with all four slots occupied by a 16MB SIMM, I am getting the unhappy chime. I haven't...

    Installing RAM in a IIcx...

Hello folks... I bought SIMMs for my IIcx. The RAM in there now I cannot remove. They feel locked in. And, the sockets do not have openable clips. How do I remove the SIMMs in there? And, are there any tips you can think of for installing the new RAM? Thank you!

    Upgrading a IIcx...

Hmm... More RAM is not necessarily better? The OS and an app like AOL (I have a lot of old e-mails saved) take up almost all of the system’s memory. I can’t imagine that pushing the RAM much higher wouldn’t be anything but a boost to the system. I want to run Infini-D, Photoshop and Illustrator...

    IIcx Has a Few Issues...

Hey folks... My recently-restored IIcx has a few problems. Nothing major, but annoying. 1. It periodically freezes, then plops up a network error message. I click "ok" and it's fine again, for a little while. 2. Maybe two times in an hour, it will crash. The guy who fixed it said something...

    Upgrading a IIcx...

Yeah... not sure my IIcx’s CPU’s upgradable. I think I do have a ROM slot though. I would like to upgrade as much as possible -- once I land a job, however. So... My main options are ethernet and video upgrades (that man who repaired my machine gave me an ethernet board he wasn’t using, so now...

    Upgrading a IIcx...

A very helpful gentleman here in AZ fixed up my ancient IIcx for me, so it is now capable of booting up and being used. Has a blueSCSI in there, 20MB of RAM, fresh caps, and is overall cleaned up. What I'd like to know is, what upgrade options were for this machine? What sorts of Nubus boards...
