I've never had to take apart MiniScribe to get it rolling again. I've only had to blow out the dust from the optical sensor or move the armature 1/8 turn or so (the one that says not to turn it).

How much VRAM do you have? Maybe not enough to push your "high resolution" monitor?

Was able to pick up a Dual 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5 liquid cooled beast minus RAM and hard drive at the university surplus for a single $20. I couldn't resist. I've always wanted a liquid cooled G5.
