I have opened up my box, scanned the three pieces at 600 DPI and saved the files as A3 TIFFs on the Macintosh Garden. They are by, no means, perfect but with some Photoshop & Illustrator trickery, you should be able to build the box. The link is here...

Is the RAM on the accelerator or on the motherboard of the Plus? I wonder if you have mismatched speeds somewhere, either RAM that is too slow, a conflict between bus-speeds etc.

I second the Eizo monitors. I have a couple myself and the older grey ones match the 68K Macs well.

I don't know. If they are though, remember that that plastic may be brittle and may easily break while trying to remove them. This is surely something that can be replaced by means of a 3D printer but then colour-matching becomes something to think long and hard about.

Why bother with just one OS to settle on? Pick & choose as you see fit. Mac OS 8.1 does give you access to HFS+ volumes, if that makes a difference. As a default, I would take the earliest/lowest OS that runs the software you want to run.

If power is the problem, then the addition of a powered USB hub may help. Another idea is finding a PCI USB card that delivers more power. That being said, Mac OS 7-9 only supports USB 1.1 and I don't whether that also regulates the power output in a PCI USB 2.0 card that also supports USB 1.x.

The combo also went for CHF255 in the end, which is not bad considering that they had to be collected.
