    PicoIDE in a Mac?

Hmm... it's too bad this is a full-sized device; I was hoping for something for the G4 Mini, where SATA adapters generally don't fit.

    PowerBook 540c - Did a thing (OS 8.6)

Ah that's right; it wasn't supported by m68kLinux. Maybe NetBSD PPC is a better target?

    PowerBook 540c - Did a thing (OS 8.6)

Not meaning to steal the thread... but I wanted to note this down somewhere. Since we've got G4 Minis running System 7.0 now, I wonder if we could modify the ROM or OF to allow "modern" PPC Macs to run NeXTStep and OpenStep as well.... For the 540c... it'd be really neat if we could force it...

DDP in userland definitely seems like the future -- but aren't there going to be issues as time marches on with creating packets that leverage raw sockets from userland? Are there new APIs to handle creating and passing custom packets in userland? It's been over a decade since I've last delved...

    itunes Home Sharing

Unfortunately, Airplay 2 is limited to 256kbps audio or lower. This means that attempting to use home sharing to stream via Airplay 2 will also be limited, and there's no downsampler provided in Apple's product. Solutions around that? Find some other non-Airplay method of sharing the audio...

For me, it's having a single file server that can host files for all my Macs. Theoretically, it could also proxy print to my laser printer, but I always just print to PDF (or pict) on my Macs and send to a modern one for printing anyway, so the PAP printing is just a "yes, I could do that if I...

    Mac Plus Freezing

Could be bad RAM, could be a system extension issue -- does the issue go away if you boot 7.1 with shift held down? I had no issues playing Carmen USA v1.1 on my Plus back in the day (same for Carmen World), so it's definitely not an architecture issue. I think I may have played them on System...

If you could bring back classic Mac OS software, what would it be?

I too preferred SuperPaint. SuperCard was a separate product to HyperCard, and lasted quite a long time -- the last version was 32-bit Intel, so lasted until 2019 as runnable software. It then stayed in support until 2024 when Scott passed away and the site was taken down. I never ended up...

If you could bring back classic Mac OS software, what would it be?

multi-platform games: Strategic Conquest NetRisk NetTrek Spectre (pretty much all of them) Bolo Those are the ones that I'd like to have playable off the top of my head. Of course, most of them already have equivalents or are network playable under emulation.

If you could bring back classic Mac OS software, what would it be?

Well, I'm happy with OpenType fonts today, but I'd really love a built-in font editor again. A real one, that could do splines, kerning, ligatures, etc. So maybe a Mac version of Fontographer? It used to exist, now Fontographer and FontLab are Windows-only :\

Struggling to get my Lisa 2/10 to boot from an ESProfile

Still seems crazy to me that the Lisa operated at 115200 when the early Macs were capped at 57600 per channel. Guess that was part of the cost cutting.

Ambrosia Software legacy continues with Decoder Ring

I have to admit, after the first time I installed EV on an emulator where I didn't have my registration handy, I got this idea to invert the logic tied to Cap'n Hector... so now every time he shows up, he doubles the value he was previously stealing.

You have: AAUI to 10BASE-T ethernet adapter (aka a MAU). You need: regular AUI. A hack...

I used to have a drawer full of those in the early 2000s.

    AMUG Internet Installer Source Code

Hmm… why would it strip resource forks? Files I stuff in 7.5.3 usually unstuff with resource forks intact for me on MacOS 26…. Not on Linux or Windows of course.
