ok not really freezing... as it stops booting from hard disk I can insert floppy and it's trying to read it, but no success.  Another thing is it correctly ejects non system floppy and I can manually eject any floppy with mouse button pressed, so I guess IWM chip is ok?

Hi,  having problem with my Macintosh Plus, it never manages to boot operating system, instead it freezes after a while (like 5 seconds) of reading data. Doesnt matter if I try to boot it from floppy (100% bootable floppy inserted in working internal and external drives) or external hard disk...

it makes sense, new caps with full value need more power than before. My power supply wasnt recapped either.

I have the same issue with my Classic II and I doubt it has anything to do with AB. Analog board re-cap solved "vibration" on screen and it worked fine. I could even play some games,  but after I replaced already weak caps on motherboard it started to give me no bong, random vertical bars...

 I had the same error popping up on my 512ke with upgrade card, reseating the card made it boot without issues!

have you guys tried online version of pici? http://pici.picidae.net/ used to work immediately, now it takes some time to process...maybe local network OSX version will work faster. It makes a snapshot of modern sites and lets you navigate around it using really obsolete web browsers. Works on...

thx techknight, you're right, I used 2N3906 instead of 2N3904.

here's an update: after swapping transistor mentioned above things got uglier. Now I get the same horizontal stripes pattern, but there's no video generated by Mac behind those stripes. Fiddling with cut off did not help. After turning it on it starts to boot ( I can hear hard drive spinning...

I also recommend IPA (isopropyl, not India Pale Ale), I found local shop selling it for equivalent of 4$ per gallon. 

fortunately it's working! Found a tip on ancient net.micro.macintosh newsgroup how to increase RAM from 1 to 2 MB. 

thank you Elfen and tjjq, I will have another Plus (labeled Plus ED), so I can check those things. Will give you an update.

tjjq4: Mac512ke shows sad MAc 01Exxx error with swapped ROM chips from Plus.  Is it worth trying to dump original ROMs from Plus and write them to 27c512 chips? I think I've heard about this solution, but seems dubious in my case.
