    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    Hello. Today I found some time and continued modifying the processor in my iMac G3. First, I swapped the 256kb cache chips for two 512kb ones taken from the same DA 466MHz daughterboard, clocked at 250MHz (it has the -25 at the end of the reference). Thanks @herd for your tips on working with...

    Designing Firewire card for Mezzanine??

    Hi, I need to order from Digikey some items, but I can't find the 160-pin mezzenine connector opposite the one on the iMac. Does anyone know if it's available? What reference number would it have?

    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    I have already received the adapter for the TL866, I just need time! In the post about overclocking the bus of this iMac I mentioned that it seems that the Cache ratio changes when changing the bus speed, according to Gauge Pro...

    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    Thanks @Daniël, I've searched and it must be the one you mentioned. I'll try it! https://www.mouser.es/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/M24C02-WDW6TP?qs=Du8MRN8yFR6ucuUktOfCYg%3D%3D

    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    Thanks for all this information. Unfortunately, it's beyond my knowledge; no matter how much I read and reread it, I don't know where to start. I would need someone's help modifying the EEPROM dump. Seeing the changes in firmware versions, if the Lombard EEPROM worked in an iMac G3 tray, would...

    Is it possible to Install Sorbet Leopard on G4-upgraded G3 B&W

    Do you have at least a 500MHz processor and 512MB of RAM? I think those are the minimum requirements. I was able to install it on a Pismo upgraded to a 500MHz G4, and it worked after updating to the latest firmware.

    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    So, the XLR8 SPD EEPROM alone isn't enough to enable the cache? Is the MAChSpeed Control panel necessary? You mentioned that @dosdude1 used the SPD EEPROM from a Lombard and it worked, but at a 5:2 ratio. I have a 300MHz Wallstreet CPU that has a 2:1 cache ratio and uses 1MB. Could it be...

    iMac G3 (Rev A -> C) G4 CPU Upgrade

    Hi @Daniël. As you know, I'm playing with an iMac G3 tray CPU, which I upgraded to a G4. If I were to consider swapping the original cache for the one that came with the 7400@466MHz DA, wouldn't it be enough to swap the G4 DA EEPROM with the one from the iMac G3? I also have the EEPROM from a...

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    Hi, the 300MHz Wallstreet processor arrived yesterday. I installed it in the iMac G3 tray, but it didn't work, as we expected. I can't verify the processor either because I don't have a Wallstreet processor, but it's probably due to firmware incompatibility. The iMac G3 tray doesn't seem to...

    iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

    Hi!! You might be surprised that I changed the 66MHz XPC106 to a 100MHz one if I told you it worked. Well, it did, but the OS would occasionally pause, especially when copying files. So I suspected it wasn't very stable. I had a faulty B&W G3 motherboard at home, and I decided to replace it...

    Problem with Gigadesigns processor

    As I mentioned in the first post, the processor is at factory settings, set to 1.3V. I didn't make any changes. When I turn it on, it doesn't boot, there's no chime, no LED, and the Vcore slowly drops to 0.5V. I don't lower it; something exceeds the regulator's power consumption, and it drops...

    Problem with Gigadesigns processor

    Thanks for your reply, but it wasn't working before I removed the heatsink. As I explained, it stopped working when I switched from one computer to another, and I can also measure the VCore dropping from 1.3V to 0.5V, as if the processor were short-circuiting. The computer won't boot, there's no...

    G3 Trifecta! (Speakers, Slot Load, Battery) Bonus-Fans!

    Hello, thanks for your contribution. I'd like to point out that I didn't want to use those speakers because they're 4 ohms, which provide poor sound definition. I've played for many years with guitar amps, both transistor and tube, and also with amateur radio stations, and the speakers have...

    Problem with Gigadesigns processor

    Hi, I'm writing because I'm not sure what happened. I've had a Gigadesigns 7447@1.6GHz for a while now, which is actually a 1.25GHz processor OC to 1.6, from the factory; I haven't overclocked it. The Vcore is set to 1.3V. It's been mounted in a GE for a while now, and today I wanted to run...

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    I don't have a Wallstreet, so I couldn't flash the ROM from a Mac. So the chipset wouldn't be compatible? They both use a 66MHz XPC106.

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    Yes, the first thing I'll do is put in the unmodified CPU card, let's see what happens, but probably nothing will happen, I highly doubt I have a desktop iMac Wallstreet :)

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    Well, I'll try it: €30 for the processor with two RAM modules and several parts from the Wall Street motherboard. But I'm afraid it won't be easy, otherwise it would have been done already.

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    I'm afraid they don't have the same ROM chip; the iMac only has one, and the Wallstreet has four. It probably doesn't work.

    iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

    Thanks for the replies. Is the ROM chip the same in the Wallstreet as in the iMac? The photos I have include RAM, and I can't see it. If I just need to unsolder the one from the iMac and solder it to the Wallstreet, I could do it. If I needed to program, I'd have to find an adapter for the TL866...
