Prototype Mac Case, that is the question . . .

Some of us could spend all day sending you pictures of generic cases that have the buttons and LEDs mounted in the metal instead of the plastic.Nothing special about that or your case. Nothing special about holes all over the place. This is par for the course with generic PC cases. Please...

Prototype Mac Case, that is the question . . .

Some cases after 2000 still had AT screw holes listed IIRC.

Prototype Mac Case, that is the question . . .

Trash. Stop. Page 16: http://www.photolabs.ru/manuals/tr/qss31_training%20materials.pdf Granted, it only shows the 5 and not 5A.. so it is an outdated document. *shrug* Someone crammed an Apple part into a PC case. That is all.

HELP! Noob Building a Parallel Port ROM HackStation . . .

I would say it is more that random ebay-pulls are not very builder-friendly, but that is a different argument for a different time. Did you plug in the 12v 4pin or 8pin power connector generally near the CPU socket? I might also double check standoff positions on the motherboard tray to make...

Beige G3 + Sonnet Encore ZIF 1ghz will not power on

Just because the connector fits does not mean the wires are used for the same task. However I do not know how Sonnet had their stuff wired so that is all I can say.

Pismo - HDD substitution in AirPort slot, possible?

The common internet consensus is that Apple just swapped a couple pins. People have used non-airport cards in the airport slot... but they were all wifi. I have not seen a pinout of the slot though, so I cannot really say any way or the other. If someone who knows what they are doing has a poke...

MacIPgw virtual machine for TCP/IP on your old Mac

I want to actually dial into another machine without having to faff around with settings then run back and forth across the house to answer the call. Serial cables or USB adapters not allowed. Just dial in like we did in the old days but using some cable poked through walls/ceiling/floor.

MacIPgw virtual machine for TCP/IP on your old Mac

I would also like to say that I finally got this working with my AsanteTalk box. And yes, my RT-AC66U has no issue negotiating with this specific piece of hardware, I guess that is mostly just a thing with some other old stuff. What I *think* worked in the end(swapping the...

Re: PDQ has delusions of 333MHz Lombardness . . .

It is at this point you pop off the heatsink, unscrew the heat spreader, then clean off the thermal compound to look at the markings on the CPU. You would also check the multiplier settings at this point. A WS/PDQ overclocking page should be pretty clear on the multiplier setting. Was it the...

MacIPgw virtual machine for TCP/IP on your old Mac

I am having some trouble getting this to work. Using BeigeG3 as a software bridge (localTalk Bridge) and a PB1400 as a client(172.16.2.2) with the virtual machine running on a PC with windows 8 I can(from PB1400) log into the gateway VM but cannot talk to anything outside the gateway VM, such...

    Adtron SCSI Compact Flash drive?

I have a Team 4GB, and ADATA 2GB that work in my 1400, but that is IDE to begin with, not some odd SCSI contraption. :p Also, if the 4GB card is FAT formatted on a PC then 7.6.1 will not like it. but if you make it exFAT or FAT32 or something 8.6 has no issues.(one of the two or possibly...

master p killed my HD (in the PM 6400)

The magnet in the sub is not at fault. There are two possible reasons why your HDD died: 1. AGE. 2. Vibration. A drive can die at any time, and they like to pick the worst times. Did I ever mention the time about six or seven years ago IIRC when I had a (purchased new)120GB Samsung HDD in my...

    angled USB adapter

^^^^^^ This. I have played with some. They are all garbage. Just get a veryvery short extension cable and fling it somewhere. The hard pivoting extender things are not worth your time imo.

Using CF card as internal drive in TAM?

Not that it matters for Macs, but I have always liked CF cards for: their speed IDE+dumb passive adapter means there is less possibility of incompatibility ...This next one is just luck I think. I have killed multiple SD cards in cameras but never killed a CF card in a computer. Different...
