    Cloning the Interware Booster 30

Out of curiosity any benchmarks on the speed up offered by this board? Curious given the LC II’s 16 bit data path how much of a bottleneck that is and how this compares to an LC III?

Announcing ZuluSCSI - A file-based SCSI device emulator

I am in the same position here. I don’t know the background of the prior disagreement but I thought this was an updated BlueSCSI originally. I would have picked a scsi2sd related name personally.

New CPU Accelerator options for 68K Macs?

Its Zane K on this project (not Kai). Zane seems like a pretty incredible engineering type. It would be great to lock him in a room with Bolle for one month and see all of the great new retro hardware that would result. Oh well. Stupid kidnapping laws….

New CPU Accelerator options for 68K Macs?

There is a full thread on it here. Seems like a super neat project. https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/wip-25-mhz-68hc000-based-accelerator-for-mac-se.253/

New CPU Accelerator options for 68K Macs?

Did everybody see the post on Facebook about the 25mhz 68000 accelerator for the Mac SE? If it ends up happening I would buy a couple. it will be open source and it would be great to adapt it to the Mac Classic.

Need info about Newlife Computer Corp CD306C expansion card

This is wrong on a few levels. There is no correlation between 16 bits and 4MB. Beyond that, the 68000 had a 24 bit address width which would translate into 16mb of addressable memory space. Indeed, the Mac portable which was also a 68000 machine and supported 8MB. The limitation is ROM based...

Trip report: Internal scuznet install in an SE

I had mentioned the same approach re: the panel mount cables in the Scuznet thread but in the context of having a Scuznet with an IDC50 connector to avoid needing to piece together the various adapters. I don't have the skills to modify the Scuznet to sport an IDC 50 instead but if somebody was...

    128k just died :(

The comment was recommending replacing those parts not trying to troubleshoot. It seemed that you had already recapped the analog board and replacing those parts is not any more complex. I am pretty sure i posted the specific part numbers I used here at one point as well

    128k just died :(

I have a 128k that had a similar issue, although it as quite some time ago so I can't recall exactly how similar it was. Apparently at one point in the Mac's history it smoked when it was turned on and the guy never turned it back on. I ended up buying it (in a box) for $35. I did my standard...

    Compact Mac Transcoded Video Idea

I have been playing around with @fstark 's awesome MacFlim (now with audio) and it struck me how great it would be to watch non-pre-prepped content on my SE/30. Stealing @tashtari 's Elevator Pitch proposal style... Elevator Pitch: It's a hardware/software solution that allows full screen...

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

I’ve had good luck with other world computing‘s 16mb kit and it seems cheaper too. I just ordered 8 more 16 mb simms.

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

@cig1410 Your posts are super helpful on this. Thanks!. I do keep hoping to see a TL;DR at the bottom of one of them that says just send you the board and parts and you’ll send back a working se/30 logic board…. Are you guys ordering new connectors instead of harvesting for that shiny new...

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

Scratch that... I didn't realize how inexpensive JLPCB is... I ordered 5 boards with the SMT service, although a few components were unavailable (with one of those being the most populous unfortunately but I figured supplies might get worse) for around $200 shipped. That's crazy. I did the...

Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

@macintosh2002 or others: If it’s more economic to order multiple boards (with the passives on the back prepopulated) I’d be interested in putting my name down for 2. I’m ok to prepay for the boards and then would pay for shipping when they come back. If it doesn’t bring the price down might...

    Backwards progress with SE/30

Agreed. If the PSU was working before and it’s still showing the right voltage it doesn’t make sense to blame the PSU and analog board at this stage. It seems pretty clear the issue is related to the logic board recap and the analog board/PSU is a red herring.

Introducing (and interest check) AirTalk: Wireless plug-and-play LocalTalk dongles

Super cool! Just to confirm my understanding, if you’re using real hardware and not minivmac, you would need two of these, right? Ie if I have a netatalk server on Ethernet, I wouldn’t be able to connect to it with this device, but if I had two macs and two of these I could link them together...

    Bootable 50pin SCSI CDRW Drive

I have never had an issue with a non apple Optical drive failing to boot as long as I was booting a proper boot cd. I didn’t realize some would not boot. On some Macs pressing c would boot from a cd or else holding down command option shift delete to not boot from the internal hd would always...
