What is the technical reason why DDP AppleTalk doesn't work with WiFi?

I'll give that a try. It's been a long time since I've used Wireshark, but hopefully I can fight my way through! My bet is on the RPi Pico network stack being the culprit. If that turns out to be the case I doubt there's any remedy possible.

What is the technical reason why DDP AppleTalk doesn't work with WiFi?

I've been struggling with Appletalk under System 7.x when using the emulated Dayna SCSI/Link device in ZuluSCSI (problem might exist in BlueSCSI as well, but I do not own one). A real SCSI/Link hardware interface (connected to my ethernet network) shows Appletalk Zones in the bottom left of the...

    Quadra 605 build log

That little fan has a noticeable whir to it, but it's better than an overheated CPU. At 40 MHz. it was getting uncomfortably hot when run without forced air flow. It probably has a lot to do with the die-stepping of the CPU. Some of the later 68040 shrinks were better able to deal with higher...

    Quadra 605 build log

Hahaha... Your photo is inverted! Had me scratching my head for a bit trying to make sense of the layout. Then I read the markings on one of the large chips :)

How to use your ZuluSCSI RP2040 as a USB-attached SCSI controller

From my experience, drive issues pall in comparison to degradation / failure of the tape cartridge itself. The internal tension belt on most tapes will have already failed or will do so destructively the first time you try to read it. Even tapes from the 90s that are factory sealed are likely...

    Problem with ZuluSCSI Daynaport emulation

I'm not running with that option. When running over localtalk or via the actual Daynaport SCSI hardware it reconnects every time on a restart. The problem only occurs when networking over the ZuluSCSI Dyna API emulation. I'm thinking that the emulation is missing a subtlety somewhere.

    Problem with ZuluSCSI Daynaport emulation

Since day one I've been able to get the ZuluSCSI Daynaport SCSI emulation working for a booted system by using Chooser to select and log to my netatalk server. However, it's never been willing to automatically reconnect to the server after reboot. I have to manually set it up every time, which...

Ah - I recall seeing that at the time and just plain forgot about it. It certainly answers all my initial questions. Thanks for the reminder!

    Netatalk 4.0 - Future-proofing Apple File Sharing

@NJRoadfan . Any chance of a brief cookbook (or even a list) for setting TashTalk/TashRouter + netatalk up in the manner you describe?

Repair of a basket case DiimoCache030

Thanks for the tip on that microscope. I picked up a stereo optical scope several years ago, but found it very cumbersome to use. This looks like a better solution.

    3D Printed SE/30 ROM Clips

The clips are great, but be warned they do not help in cases where the SIMM socket is warped. The only thing that worked was a thin PCB shim I picked up from a vendor - I think it was Ko-Fi (?)

    Netatalk 4.0 - Future-proofing Apple File Sharing

For those of us who are continually confounded by bridges, tunnels, taps, etc. would you consider posting a complete example? I'm planning to stand up a new tashrouter + netatalk server and could use just a wee more concrete guidance.

Network and station number in Appletalk control panel

I'm troubleshooting network problems and definitely needed to understand what net and station number were effective.

Network and station number in Appletalk control panel

The answer was just too simple... There are three possible display modes and it defaults to "Basic", which does not show station or net numbers. Sheesh.... Sorry for the noise!

Network and station number in Appletalk control panel

I have an Appletalk router (tashrouter) as mentioned in my original post. There is a single zone. I am not seeing the dialog in your screen shot. That is what I'd like to see, but I'm only getting `Current zone: <no zones available>`. The other four line items don't appear.

Network and station number in Appletalk control panel

On some of my systems, some of the time, the Appletalk control panel shows Zone (if available), network and station numbers and offers the option of specifying the latter two. Other times, it simply tells me the zone is not known while displaying nothing about network and station. Can anyone...
