I had similar issues and I think you are looking in the right spot. Here's the notes from my SE/30 that was lacking audio and would hang when trying to play sounds:
"Reading a 68kmla forum post about sound issues resulting from connections to/from the UE10 chip, I tested them out. Sure enough...
I did. I ended up using a slightly different keyboard, a Novice 68. It had two advantages. It had a lighter gray translucent case and it had little feet to increase the angle of the keyboard. Unfortunately, it was a lot more work to get everything to fit and to get it secured somewhat...
I do. I have a few that are all recapped and cleaned up with DOS cards, and I have a few others I need to finish assembly of that will just be base 6100s. Also have some newly made video adapters if you need one.
OK, quick update. I was seeing the same thing with the 5V at one of the emitters. I removed the emitter to inspect it and then decided to remove the other. I put the working emitter into the other side and its voltage then looked good at 1.2v. I figured it was the emitter going bad, but then...
So, I've finalized the project and made a first run. I partnered with JCM-1 to offer them for sale for people not wanting to do it yourself (it does require a bit of unusual parts, plus a 3d printed case to be securely attached.
Check them out here: Classic Macintosh Archives - Joe's...
Where are you located? I have a bunch of these from a haul of 15 or so 6100s and 12 or so Quadra 605s that share a lot of innards. Many broke during disassembly, but even missing some of the bottom tabs, they still stay in place.
Hey, that's me! I think we have a solid, repeatable solution now. Posted the details on github: https://github.com/wottle/HDI-45-Adapters
I have a DA-15 and HD-15 version, along with DIY instructions.
If you don't want to deal with that, I have partnered withJoes Computer Museum to build a...
Yeah, I'm hoping these will help people out. I've been clinging to the one adapter I have that came with my 6115 for a few years now. I'll be able to keep a couple of these around for my 6100 and 8100 as well.
😂
Ha, my impatience gets me again!
I will probably just do the trace cutting I did on the previous build. But I do think it is awesome to add that selectable key config. Are you just going to add some headers with jumpers to decide between the two settings? Or is there a cleaner approach...
FYI, I have finished building a PCB and 3d printed case to solve this. I built two versions. One is HDI-45 to VGA (HD-15). The other is a HDI-45 to DA-15. I made this mainly because I also have several DOS compatibility cards and the Y cable for it works with a DA-15 connector. Also, some...
OK, I put in an order and I'm only building ONE. One with transparent switches and transparent keycaps for my MacEffects clear SE/30 build. (I will likely keep one PCB in case I need to do any key manipulation like I did before, but I will have 3 I'm looking to pass along quickly to keep myself...
Unfortunately, it was the "Black resin" option that it looks like they are phasing out - I don't believe you can use it for new orders. It was a really nice option for Powerbooks - still too dark, but not a black, more of a dark gray.
It also had nice, smooth finish that almost had a soft...
I went through so many cutoff blades on my Dremel!!! ;) However, these connectors aregreat, and I highly recommend JLC3DP for printing in resin for a very professional finish.
I may order a set. I think 5 runs something like $25-30. But as I said, I don't have the self control not to build all five if the PCBs are laying around. If you and anyone else wanted to take some of the boards off my hands, I could do the re-order on JLCPCB...
Does anyone have an extra PCB they'd be willing to sell me? I can order a new batch of 5, but I don't trust myself to not try to build all 5 (key caps and switches get expensive! Trying to build one with clear keycaps to go with my transparent SE/30 and transparent mouse And would prefer...
