    Translating (Localizing) Application resources

ResCompare is useful for making a patch after you made the modification with ResEdit. It doesn't do resource editing on its own, it just compares two binaries. You compare the original unmodified binary with the binary you modified, then ResCompare shows you the differences in the resources...

    Translating (Localizing) Application resources

@slomacuser You could use ResCompare to create a patch, then you can share the patch program so others can localize their copy. :)

    Greaseweasel not reading 800k disks?

I looked inside my Applied Engineering floppy drive once because I was curious how they got an off-the-shelf floppy drive to read and write variable rate Mac disks. It looked like the Borg invaded and attached 30 millions wires, so I closed the case up and didn't open it again. :P

    Greaseweasel not reading 800k disks?

KyroFlux forums covers this as well. You'll want a specific drive of a specific era for best compatibility. The drives just weren't made for it, so some handle it better than others. It's why I got an AppleSauce so I don't have to fiddle with that stuff. Only drawback is I can't write back...

Macintosh Bus Master Nubus Card 820-0199-C, 077-8264

Thanks for this info. I had read many different explanations as to what it was used for, including "fixing" or "enabling" Bus Mastering on certain Mac II models to speed them up.

    Prince of Persia

@leonardcarvalho Here's some artwork I did a while back. I have a 24x36 poster and some floppy disk case inserts. You can buy 3.5" floppy cases still (often marketed as "calendar" cases.) Print out some of these inserts, then have a nice disk set even without a box. Poster Link Label Link

Monterey I think? You can also click-hold on the green button (hover in Sonoma or later) in a window and get the screen-split options.

    That explains the FlashTalkRadius.

    TOPS FlashBox information

I wonder if there was ever a newer version. Macintosh Garden has a copy of TOPS 2.0. It indicates it's System 6 only.

    "Truth" font?

Also, the fact that it was bundled with the Copland beta makes 100% sense why it was corrupted. Copland couldn't run longer than a few minutes without self destructing.

    "Truth" font?

Here it is. One is a System 7 Suitcase TrueType binhex encoded. The other is a PC TrueType file useable on modern computers. That was a fun bit of digital archeology. :D

    "Truth" font?

Found it! It was bundled with the Copland beta. I'll make a copy for you.

    "Truth" font?

I'm gonna look around on 1994-1995 developer CDs on Archive.org. Especially the OS betas. Might be on one of those.

    "Truth" font?

So it looks like it was eventually called Charcoal and released with Mac OS 8. It's possible the original "Truth" font is located on a developer CD somewhere. It was rereleased by Font Bureau in 2022 after the license expired, but Font Bureau no longer sells it. MyFonts has it for sale for an...

    TOPS FlashBox information

If someone reverse engineered the FlashBox, I wonder if you could just run it off the ADB port without needing an external power supply.

    TOPS FlashBox information

Looking at the picture you provided, the installer probably just copies the files to the correct location, perhaps depending on the computer model. So if the installer isn't working, I would try just copying the FlashTalk, FlashTalk II, FlashRadius, and FlashTalkRadius to your System Folder...
