Should I get AppleVision 750av Display?

1280x1024@75 Hrz is decent for a CRT. People have preferences and I stick to Sony Trinitrons but have shadow mask monitors as well. Do you really want it at the price and condition available is a question only you can decide.

OS 9 downloads super slow no matter what?

I kind of wonder why somebody hasn't coded Opentransport 2.0 and fixed the problem (or is it unfixable?). The WGS 95 is much faster over the network because of A/UX (and probably because of that caching SCSI card).

Anyone ever try using OpenTransport on a Mac II?

Honestly, I think A stock Mac II would be one hell of an OS 6 machine. I run 7.1 on my IIfx units.

Do capacitors go bang!? Quadra 650 psu

Anything liquid filled that gets hot quickly can explode from steam pressure. I was watching a video on GPU repair and a highly qualified tech was removing a RAM chip with a hot air workstation and even when he had a large metal heatsink over the capacitors next to the ram to shield them from...

PowerPump"ACCELERATOR" from NewerTech: is it worth cloning?

It just sits in the 68040 socket runs a 40mhz CPU at 50 and adds some cache plus has a fan.

PowerPump"ACCELERATOR" from NewerTech: is it worth cloning?

I think I have 2 of the Apple PPC cards and one has a cracked CPU, plus the Daystar PowerPro 601 with RAM and cache and I am NOT overclocking that thing (good luck finding a replacement if you screw it up). If you're going to clone anything on a 950, I would suggest the 68040/50 with cache...

External Fujitsu MO Drive (Custom Case)

That turned out pretty nice. I find external SCSI drives get more use since I have a bunch of SCSI equipped machines.

SuperMac Spectrum - The one that started it all

Yea, there has to be some basic functionality for video to come up at all.

SuperMac Spectrum - The one that started it all

I have a few very old Nubus video cards, and it seems they were designed to work with special fixed frequency monitors of the time. Finding drivers is also an issue for anything system 6.0 and older (For the Mac II which shipped with OS 4.1 ).

    SuperMac Thunder II 1600 Unboxing

There are comic books, stamps, baseball cards etc. that have kept their value or grown over the years, but they are the very early ones in good condition. Anything mass produced and modern is worthless. It's the old original Star Wars action figure dilemma; do you open the box and play with...

    You know, somebody should........

Yikes and B&W are the same board with ADB plug and chip removed and a different firmware. I have a B&W I upgraded with a G4 ZIFF ages ago. Very few cards take advantage of the 66mhz PCI slot, and none are great for later versions of OSX people seem to like installing. Beige G3's are stuck at...

    You know, somebody should........

The only OEM machine with a G4 ZIFF was the Yikes PCI G4 tower (350/400Mhz), so I would not expect there to be massive quantities of G4 ZIFFs around. Since Beige G3's were PCI graphics only I would think a faster G3 would be better than a G4 anyway.

Laserwriter 4/600 PS with streaks all over printed page.

If they get hard, I wonder if soaking them with alcohol will loosen them up. I should check my old lasers out and see if they still work, been ages since I used them.

    A trash can.... Mac :)

You are better off just repasting the CPU and GPU when you get them on 5+ year old gear. I got an eBay GTX 970 GPU in the other day that was sold as non-working, but the picture of the card showed it had the factory peal off plastics all over it like it was never used. Anyway, the card had all...

Advice regarding sparks on 512k analog board

What is that unsoldered pin that is in line with the burnt pad? A marginal connection causes resistance and when power is applied causes heat.
