The multipart is the full CD AFAIK, just decompress them all and double-click the first part. You can then make an ISO in Disk Utility. :) That's how I did it. If you don't have Mac OS X then maybe someone here with the server space can do it.

Also, System 7.5 can be downloaded free from apple.

It would probably be in your best interest to upgrade the RAM, it's not that hard. System 7 may be your only hope and really isn't that bloated if you take out some unneeded extensions.

You could always program your own, or pay someone else to do so.

Strangely, not the results I got. Mine was something like half the folders were there and the other half were invisible and the folders inside weren't to be seen. It scared me for a minute. :lol:

Yes, but HFS was programmed into ROM and if you run system 1/2 on a Plus and try to use an HFS disk strange results happen. (Trust me, I've tried.)

Yes, system 1/2 can run on a Mac Plus but has some issues with HFS, make sure to use MFS. :)

It's possible to get a zip drive for the SE and use that.

If it was a mechanical failure they would swap platters. It's easier and safer to swap logic boards if it's a logic board fail.
